Causes: Human Services, Neighborhood Centers
Mission: The primary purpose of the organization is to promote self-help programs for the poor and disadvantaged population within the local community. Programs and services are intended, but not limited to: improving general education levels; combating poverty and racism, promoting justice and equality; enhancing social awareness and providing other community services that may benefit the interest of local residents.
Programs: The center operated programs and activities that are essential to low and moderate-income residents of the township. The programs and activities included but were not limited to: case management, clothing give-a-ways, food pantry,employment services and a variety of seminars and workshops were conducted throughout the year. During fiscal year 2014, the center served over 2,000 individuals. Services included but were not limited to:case management for emergent needs; case mangement towards self-sufficiency; information and referrals; food pantry; homelessness prevention; employment readiness, etc. There were various workshops that addressed issues dealing with daily nutrition, computer technology,etc. The center continues to partner with the hamilton township health department to offer community residents ongoing monthly health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes testing,blood sugar and cholesterol. The center collaborates with the hamilton board of education's 21st century program to provide tutoring for students kindergarten through third grade. These tutoring programs are held tuesday and thursday afternoons. Summer program provided youth with increased academic, athletic and social skills to foster success in school and an alternative outlet to prevent idleness.
