anonDVhurts Client Served

Rating: 1

06/24/2020

Worked with this agency as a client for 2 months just to be dropped as soon as they asked for very delayed intake paperwork to be filled out and signed, without their required case management information, so I have no idea what they wrote there. I assumed whatever got them the most funding from my case. No notice of discharging me, just no more returned calls.

First, seemingly overtly concerned, then over time, unprofessional behavior seeps through. From the director to her staff, who all seem afraid to cross her. And what can you do as a DV victim but to take it because you need out and which is worse, their poor treatment of you or your abuser's? But even then, promises after empty promises, leaving me to ultimately fend for myself during the most dangerous moment of fleeing as they offered and promised rapid-relocation based on my case, convinced me it is best, then right after they say they've found something and I have packed ready to go.....nothing.
Dissappointed is not the right word.

And now, I have called every agency in L.A. and everyone is beyond impacted and cannot offer even basic services. Thank you Jenesse. My abuser will be pleased to see no control was lost on their part and I am still exactly where they want me, confirming that they can get away with anything and I HAVE to take it, because if a DV agency doesn't follow through and support you, who will?

I hope the celebrities that just donated millions to Jenesse, know how they treat clients when they, themselves, fail repeatedly and clients stick around all because, again, which is worse? I'm sure some clients get wonderful help, but me being of a certain underserved demographic in all areas, I am not suprised I was not a priority after all. My case was treated as urgent, but finding out that I am disabled and in a same-sex interacial relationship seemed to hurt me more than help. Where towards the end I was reminded over and over of how hard it was to place me being that I was disabled and on a fixed income. However, are not most of these agency's clients not low income? Is that not what keeps most of us from leaving for so long until the abuse is unbareable?

And forget reaching out to the CEO or the COO, they will defend their staff, despite contrary evidence, or blatantly give a canned response that has nothing to do with the problems that arise. And still, no help, no answers to what happened or why. But most importantly, after essentially begging, still NO HELP!

Please, if you care about yourself and your life, do not trust this agency. It takes a LOT to reach out, and to have your trust taken advantage of just to be abruptly abandoned without notice or cause, is irresponsible.

And if I ever am able to get out to safety, I will be sure to report this. But God knows, that's not looking so liklely anymore thanks to the 2 months I've lost waiting and trusting and hoping with this agency as everyone now is not taking any more clients. Pray for me.
