Causes: Physical Fitness & Community Recreational Facilities, Sports
Mission: To improve the quality of life for the residents living in the economically distressed neighborhood of north lufkin and surrounding areas of angelina county.
Programs: Y. E. S. (youth empowered for success) after-school tutorials, mentoring, spring-break and summer youth camp program. Computer literacy and job training: adults learn computer software programs including microsoft word, excel, access, and powerpoint to develop marketable skills. Students use computers to do research projects, math and other learning computer activities. Adults are encouraged to do on-line job searches, on-line applications, and on-line degree programs. All learning activities are available in our 10-station computer lab without charge to unemployed and low-income individuals. Compassion in action program: food pantry, hot lunches, and warm showers provided for low-income, unemployed, senior citizens the homeless, and disabled. Hot lunches are provided in congregate meals and home- delivered meals for senior citizens and the disabled. All these services are without charge.
