Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Arts & Culture, Science & Technology Museums

Mission: The mission of the jason project (jason) is to provide educational programs whose scientific subject matter captures students' imaginations and expands their understanding of science through the use of "telepresence". Telepresence is the application of technology to simulate presence at remote sites.

Programs: Jason connects students with great explorers and great events to inspire and motivate them to learn science. Jason's award winning curricula 1) embed cutting-edge research from nasa, noaa, the us department of energy, the smithsonian institute, the national geographic society and other leading organizations 2) allow leading scientists to work side by side with jason students 3) challenge students to apply their knowledge to the real-world scenarios scientists face every day. For example, "infinite potential" is an energy curriculum unit that puts students on a mission to investigate and analyze emerging technologies designed to meet the needs of an energy-hungry planet. Their mission included research articles, inquiry-based activities, videos, games and other multimedia available in print and free online editions. Operation infinite potential is designed to fit with school districts' core curriculum. It provides at least five to nine weeks of material with suggested lesson plans, extensions, interdisciplinary connections, and other teacher resources.
