Jamul Action Committee Inc

Programs: Jamul action committee has worked throughout 2017 to keep the jamul dulzura region informed of multiple land use issues, safety on highway 94, increased crime in the area, wildland fire prevention, impacts from tecate, mexico commercial traffic, action of the abc board and the impacts from the opening of the indian casino in jamul including disruptive travel on highway 94. Two community meetings were held, one in the spring and the other mid-fall with presentations from the jamul action committee team and from the elected jamul dulzura planning group members. Each meeting informative and was very well attended. The california alcohol beverage control held another public hearing due to the abc's improprieties following the first hearing in 2016. The jamul action committee informed the community of the second hearing. Over 200 residents attended the second hearing. In the middle of the year, a large urban designed development in west jamul was proposed. The project is high density. Jamul action committee has been instrumental in notifying the community and the neighborhoods in close proximity to the proposed development. The jamul action committee has held monthly meetings open to the public to plan future meetings, updates and discuss new issues. Ample time is given for discussion, questions and answer time for interested parties to dialogue in a small and more comfortable venue. The meetings were held in private homes in various areas of jamuljamul action committee uses multiple forms for communicating with the community including articles in the local paper, email, phone calls and attending local activities. Members of the jamul action committee also attended various jamul dulzura meetings and activities, including the jamul dulzura union school district, the jamul dulzura community planning group, jamul kiwanis, meetings at the county of san diego and with the san diego county supervisor for our area.
