Causes: Food, Food Banks & Pantries
Mission: The jackson cupboard was established to provide short term emergency food needs in the jackson community
Programs: Food provided to families & individuals in need. By far, the largest expense to the organization is the purchase of food items. The cupboard served 5,674 people (2,375 referrals) during 2017, and spent $55,421 on food items in 2017, as compared to spending $37,061 for 2016. We continue to relieve the significant need in jackson and appreciate receiving near-expired fruits and vegetables supplied by hole food rescue, bread & dairy products donated from local grocery stores, and generous organization-sponsored food drives in the community. During 2017 approximately 112,430 pounds of groceries nearing their expiration dates were collected and were distributed to people in need.
