Causes: Education, Scholarships, Scholarships & Student Financial Aid
Mission: To support broad charitable purposes, primarily in the state of vermont.
Programs: The j. Warren & lois mcclure foundation envisions a vermont in which no promising job goes unfilled for lack of a qualified applicant. In 2016, the foundation provided 18 grants in support of its mission to promote equitable access to career and postsecondary education for all vermonters; especially low-income students, first-generation college students, working adults, and veterans. Those grants supported programs in all 14 counties in vermont. Specific grant strategies included raising college aspiration rates, supporting students facing the biggest obstacles, changing the public narrative around jobs, levaraging more resources into the public higher education system, and partnering with other postsecondary attainment stakeholders including the 70x2025vt partnership. Through its "most promising jobs" campaign, and in partnership with the vermont department of labor, the foundation also identifies and promotes the highest-paying and highest-demand jobs projected for vermont at every educational level. Over 65,000 brochures featuring these jobs are being used by students, jobseekers, schools, colleges, and agencies across the state.
