Mission: Incorporated in 2000 as a 501(c)(3) organization, the mission of the Ivy Foundation Suffolk/Nassau Counties Inc. (IFSNC), is to serve women and girls, youth, and marginalized families by providing and supporting programs and initiatives in the areas of health education, financial literacy and wellness and educational opportunities.
Programs: The arts panorama is a signature program that showcases local art and music of talented youth in the local community. In this program, the culture and art of the african-american community as well as the long island community is presented to the suffolk and nassau county community. In addition, academic and talent scholarships are distributed.
environmental ownership is a program that includes the alpha kappa alpha 1908 playground project, i love my park and acts of green. Funds are used to spruce up valley stream state park by planting annual flowers, picking up garbage and painting picnic tables and benches. Acts of green includes the adopt-a-highway program. We donate money for section 1040 of the southern state park parkway to be kept clean with scheduled litter removal.
the educational enrichment program includes both ascend and one million backpacks. The ascend program is designed to motivate, engage and assist high school students in reaching their maximum potential. Ascend focuses on achievement, self awareness, communication, engagement, networking and developmental skills. Students in the ascend sm program have an opportunity to receive academic enrichment and life skills training with an emphasis on smart (science, math, & related technologies) to support their journey to college or vocational employment. One million backpacks provides children with backpacks filled with essential school supplies.
