double up food bucks - program to support low-income iowans in gaining access to fresh fruits and vegetables by doubling their snap benefits to purchase fruits and vegetables at participating farmers markets.
iowa walking college was launched as a pilot project in 2017 to increase the number of iowans who could advocate for walkability within their communities. For the pilot there were 15 fellows accepted into the program and 14 finishing the program. Each fellow identified specific projects in which they would be responsible for implementing in their communities.
annual walk - the annual healthiest state walk is held across all 99 counties on the 1st wednesday of october each year. This event supports our efforts to inrease the number of iowans who get at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day through the simple act of walking.
