Mission: To coordinate efforts to alleviate hunger by supporting feeding america food banks that serve iowa in the areas of advocacy, food and fund raising, and disaster relief
Programs: Supplemental nutrition assistance program (snap) - is available to assist individuals, but due to lack of access and knowledge of the program many individuals do not apply to receive benefits.
disaster relief capacity building grant - will support risk and capacity assessment activities to determine the disaster risks infrastructure strengths and challenges, and agency engagement capacities for each participating food banks service community, supports and guides the development of a targeted plan for disaster-related risk, needs and available resources for each respective regional community served by each regional disaster service team.
member food bank programs - are through the assistance of local agencies and volunteers, the iowa food bank association's member food banks are able to provide: nutritious, fresh foods to iowans struggling with hunger, safe and nurturing places for children to have a meal, emergency assistance for disaster victims, and a chance at self-sufficiency for adults.
