Causes: Cancer
Mission: The mission of the iowa cancer consortium is to reduce cancer incidence and mortality in iowa through collaborative efforts that provide services and programs directed towards comprehensive cancer prevention and control.
Programs: The iowa cancer consortium convenes groups around the five cancer plan priority areas: prevention, screening, treatment, quality of life and health equity. The consortium distributes funds for community-based implementation projects and peer-reviewed grants throughout the state of iowa. The consortium also provides educational opportunities in cancer control for health care and public health professionals.
the consortium sponsors a two day cancer summit, where it addresses comprehensive cancer control topics related to prevention, screening, treatment and quality of life issues for cancer survivors in iowa. Attendees participating represent cancer centers, public health agencies, cancer related nonprofit organizations, cancer survivors and advocates.
