Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Vio Lence

Programs: Victim services support (comprehensive) - funding for this program is provided by the iowa department of justice, crime victim assistance division (cvad), and includes federal and state funding components. This program supports icadv's training and technical assistance to domestic violence and shelter programs as well as training and technical assistance to other professionals related to interpersonal violence. Among the program's goals are 1. ) to identify and/or create culturally specific interventions and prevention strategies that ensure the diverse needs of victims/survivors are met through icadv's culturally specific programs; 2. ) to provide support, intensive technical assistance and training to increase access and improve service quality to victims/survivors who receive assistance from domestic violence programs in iowa; and 3. )to raise public awareness and knowledge concerning the dynamics of domestic violence to enhance service delivery and crisis response to victims/survivors of domestic violence and their families.

integrated services - program to establish new and to enhance existing partnerships between domestic violence programs and substance abuse treatment agencies, to develop and promote a strong coordinated community response to domestic violence, and to evaluate the institutional responses to various programs provided to battered substance abuse using women by conducting safety and accountability audits. The coalition worked with the university of northern iowa's integrated services project on this program.

family violence prevention and services - programs to provide networking among the local direct services coalitions and other committed individuals to help eliminate violence against women and children and to advocate for the welfare and protection of domestic violence survivors.
