Mission: The exempt purpose of im is to coordinate and establish policies and protocol for a statewide interoperable communications system capable of providing interoperable wireless voice and data exchange for the entire realm of public safety and emergency management in montana. This includes doing all things necessary to create, equip, operate and maintain a statewide interoperable public safety communications system.
Programs: Interoperability montana (im) works with local governments, sovereign indian nations, state and federal agencies and private companies to assess voice and data communication needs, define an appropriate radio and data system based on user-defined requirements, national standards and current available technology, and implement the system in a phased approach, sharing basic infrastructure and costs among federal, state, tribal and local governments.
