Mission: International women associates is a chicago cultural and educational organization whose members engage in cross-cultural exchange, community service, dialogue and friendship. By creating connections among people of diverse international backgrounds through our programs and with other organizations, iwa works toward a more just and peaceful world.
Programs: Community outreach includes assisting chicago public school children by our members volunteering for tutoring and mentoring, partnering with "reading is fundamental" for book distribution, partnering with "high jump" for summer educational enrichment camp, and our "culture in a suitcase" program. Funding for educational endeavors offers students workshops and tutoring for educational testing. D. T. Scholarship program funds college students to study abroad. The "insider chicago" program offers discovery to international newcomers with tours to the diverse cultural attractions chicago has to offer. Via this exposure, our members further enhance the international community, and serve as goodwill ambassadors to more than 60 countries they represent. An annual ceremony presents an award to an exceptional woman who has advanced human rights for women, and in turn puts global understanding into practice. International women's day is a day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. We celebrate this day with women all around the world. Iwa briefings: to produce excellent programming for iwa members at a level impossible for the culture, language and activity programs to achieve, specifically in terms of size of audience, expense, and number of non-iwa members attending. To attract non-iwa members as attendees and thus to raise the profile of iwa within the community.
