When I started in INC I thought my RNO was alone in its concern about our park. I also didn't feel we were being hear by the City. I went to INC and was welcomed. Members there listened to our RNO's concerns and understood. Members shared some similar concerns about their parks. It was during that time the INC Parks and Rec committee was formed to advocate for our parks, educate members about process and procedures, find ways to work with the City and collectively find solutions to common problems. I believe we now have a much stronger voice when addressing park issues.
I appreciate that community voices are better heard when there is more than one RNO or person voicing questions or concern. My committment to my RNO is renewed each time I go to INC meetings and see so many dedicated community members from across the City working together to help our neighborhoods continue to be strong and grow.
I also have learned about our City government, how it runs and I am kept updated on topics that impact our neighborhoods and City through the monthly meetings and guest speakers. I take this information back and share it with my RNO.
Give INC a try, get involved, everyone is welcome. I started as a visitor and now am a board member. My experience has been well worth my time and involvement .
