I am proud to have been a volunteer with the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women (IEEW) since 2015. Their mission and purpose are parallel to their passion and professionalism.
I enjoy my volunteer experience: serving and supporting business professionals making a difference in the world.
May you have continued support and growth, IEEW.
I worked for 10 years on women economic empowerment in Pakistan. My learnings and experience tells me one thing " women can reach to top provided their approaches are consistent and resilient.
Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women provides many opportunities for women development in Afghanistan and Rwanda by program of Peace Through Business. I was one of the women that I participated in PTB 2010. It was an opportunity that I learn about business, leadership, and share our thoughts and had our voice. It was also a great opportunity that I learned about the United States, the culture and values.
I strongly support the IEEW and PTB because it is not only the business and women and women development, it is a path to nation's development, and a path to peace and democracy.
I have worked with the organization since 2013. I have enjoyed working with the entrepreneurs from both Afghanistan and Rwanda. They have become friends for life. For me, working with these women keeps me engaged and up to date with what is happening with business in the United States and across the world. I have hosted 5 women entrepreneurs at my home. The experiences we share are so valuable. It has been valuable for my daughter to learn about the countries that they come from and the challenges that they face. When I hear about the successes of these business owners I feel proud that the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women played a role in their success.
This program has been an important part of my development as well. The people that I have worked with are passionate and collborative. It has been a wonderful experience for me and my family.
Volunteering with the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women's PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS program has been one of the most rewarding experiences for our people. For 7 years, my company has provided financial literacy mentors for women entrepreneurs from Rwanda and Afghanistan who are PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS students. They come to the US each summer from their home countries to participate in a two-week business boot camp. This is always an incredibly popular opportunity for our volunteers, and we often get repeat volunteers year to year. Our people tell us every year how powerful the experience is and how impactful it is to help an aspiring woman from a country where women have traditionally been marginalized. These women are fierce, determined, intelligent and so very humble and kind. I am touched every year by my interactions with them. The Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women has a top-notch program, and it's truly amazing to see how they are literally improving lives and helping to create thousands of jobs through their efforts.
I'm such a fan of IEEW. In addition to donating financially (which is always good) and volunteering to mentor two women in Rwanda (also important), I wanted to find a way to help more women entrepreneurs. I knew they were all working on business plans, which is something I've never done. But as the author of more than 30 books for young readers, I had an idea: What if I shared with these businesswomen my approach to writing a children's book? I did, and what we discovered , together, is how *powerful* it is to be able to explain a business idea clearly and convincingly, like a book for children. I loved hearing these women tell their start-up stories with themselves cast as the heroes. (This doesn't always come naturally to women.) I loved hearing about their journeys and their Oh-no and Aha moments. I even loved hearing about the villains they met along the way. (Every story needs a good villain!) But I think what really impressed me most was seeing how these women could and would and *are* changing the world. Storytelling has a role in this because, as we know, the people who have changed the world are those who first told us a different story of what the world could be. And goodness knows, we could all use more of that. -Kate Klise
I love volunteering with this group! Truly transformative mission. Peace through Business is changing our world one woman entrepreneur at a time!
I have loved the opportunity to get to know ladies from Afghanistan and Rwanda and also have the opportunity to host a few in my home. I've helped run a pop-up shop for those who bring items to sell and this has given me an insight into their businesses and lives. IEEW is giving a hand-up and not a hand-out so that more people are helped than just the ladies in the program. It's a rippling effect.
IEEW is such a great non-profit for Empowering Women all over the world. It is so rewarding to volunteer with them.
IEEW has been served Women in Afghanistan since 2007, their activities and services are incredible. I was their student since 2008 and I have continued to paying forward in the last 11 years. the program provides unlimited support to their alumni.
I m always grateful for IEEW and their wonderful work.
