Causes: Health, Specifically Named Diseases
Mission: The infectious diseases society for obstetrics and gynecology (idsog) was created in 1973 to bring together professionals in the field of obstetrics and gynecology who are interested in the scientific study of infectious diseases. Activities of the society are conducted for scientific purposes, for the advancement and promulgation of knowledge regarding the area of infectious diseases, and for the facilitation of personal relationships among investigators in the subject of infectious diseases related to obstetrics and gynecology. Any qualified physician or biologist who is a member or an associate of a department of obstetrics and gynecology within a teaching institution, is eligible for nomination to annual membership.
Programs: Idsog annual meeting and conferencethe meeting brings together physicians, scientists, researchers, and other health care professionals involved in patient care, research, public health, education and disease prevention in the field of infectious diseases and obstetrics and gynecology. The meeting provided two and a half days of broad continuing education with an emphasis on infectious diseases. Idsog members fill important leadership positions at local, regional, and national levels. Through their advocacy for women's health, the society has led the field in publishing important position papers that influence the national standard of care, including: management of genital hsv infection during pregnancy; prevention of neonatal infection with group b streptococcus; women's immunization practices; treatment of genital infections to prevent adverse pregnancy outcomes; and management of hiv in pregnancy.
