Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Human Services, Transportation Assistance
Mission: IFL was founded in 1985, after a state report indicated the most critical need of seniors in Michigan was transportation. This population has certain specialized transportation needs which most often cannot be addressed by public transit. Seniors who no longer drive, or are afraid to drive, need reliable, safe and economical rides to basic destinations, such as medical facilities, shopping areas, recreational centers, banks, etc. to maintain their independence.
