Mission: Imagin (improving michigan's access to geographic information networks) is an educational association whose goal is to provide educational and networking opportunities to individuals employed in or working within the gis community in the state of michigan.
Programs: Annual education conference provides professional development for imagin members. At the 2017 conference 36 breakout sessions were offered in addition to two keynote addresses and access to and independent learning center. Approximately 127 paid members participated in addition to 24 vendors and 12 students.
imagin maintains a website to keep members appraised of association activities and upcoming events. The website is maintained by volunteers from the organization.
in 2017 imagin began organizing informal meet ups open to any individuals in the gis profession. Locations for the meet ups were arranged around the state. So far we have held 3 with the following member and non-member attendance. These are offered at no registration cost to the participant: january 92 people; april 85 people; september 780
each year the association sponsors an annual graduate student paper and undergraduate student poster competition for students enrolled in a gis curriculum either full or part time in the state of michigan. The competition was held in lansing in conjunction with a state of michigan gis users group meeting.
