Living in a small community it's hard to get a lot of information. This site was given to me by a friend. During lunch, myself and several girlfriends looked it over. Through fact checking, we found it to very reliable and not self serving. The site gave several options, not just one. It provided help from start to finish. It was written in layman terms, which we all appreciated. We also liked the support system that the site provided. Overall, is one of the best sites we have seen for information, support and guidance.

I became aware of I'm Taking Charge when a friend of mine started working on their podcast, The Breast Podcast, and I shared it with my mother who is a breast cancer survivor. We listened to a couple episodes of the podcast and she had a read through the website and despite the fact that shes the last person on earth you'd think would read websites and listen to podcasts, she ended up asking me to download several episodes onto her phone. If it gets a win from my mom it gets a win from me! :)

I’m Taking Charge is an invaluable resource for women who are facing or have faced breast cancer. The website, podcast, and Facebook group offer a frank, no-holds-barred place for women to discuss the issues they have dealt with as well as to share, plan, commiserate, and support one another. When I first started working with I’m Taking Charge I understood a lot less about the specific struggles of breast cancer, despite having family members who have dealt with the disease. Their staff are knowledgeable, empathetic, and above all willing to help and educate anyone who needs it.

What an awesome website... "I'm Taking Charge". Not only have I found this site informative and backed by valid resources but it has also provided me with ideas pertaining to the different types of treatments available, how to lower stress levels, improve my diet and even questions to ask a doctor...questions I would have never thought of yet made a difference in my cancer journey. For example….. Can I consider reconstruction even with a lumpectomy!
Not only has I'm Taking Charges been a benefit to me in my person decisions concerning breast cancer treatment but it has also been a perfect forum for me to share my story and ideas for others. I have participated in a couple of different forums and not only felt like I had something to contribute but found it easier to face my own diagnosis, treatment and recovery by helping others.
Thanks for this dynamic and successful site in reaching out to those of us who find ourselves facing many decisions and dilemmas of a breast cancer. I'm Taking Charge has been a helping friend along the cancer journey.

As the sponsoring company for I’m Taking Charge, we are delighted at the comprehensiveness and quality of the blog and what it means to women who are going through their breast cancer journey. It is incredible that so many women are not told of their reconstruction options when the Women’s Healthcare Act of 1998 guarantees that women who are positively diagnosed with breast cancer must have their reconstruction covered by their private insurance or Medicare.

The group at I’m Taking Charge has dedicated themselves towards insuring that women or their advocates who are seeking information about the various options available to women, have a repository of information and data available to them so that they can make an informed choice about which option might be the best choice for them.

We are encouraged at their progress and look forward to continuing our support of this incredible resource for women.

Sincerely,

As someone "new" to this cancer information pouring at you from all angles, coming across this site was rather refreshing. Sitting at home having my own pity party, I sat down and perused the site. It is easy to navigate. I enjoyed reading the women's stories; especially about reconstruction. It gave stories from women of different ages, tips and did not seem to be biased in any way. I also stumbled upon their pod casts. They were actually nice to listen to, informative and not boring! At the end of listening to Vicky's story, my pity party was over. I would recommend this site for patients at any age or just someone who needs information.

My mother passed away from cancer. I have seven sisters and discovered this site at a conference. I know that my sister who is an R.N. at an Oncology center constantly tells her patients about this wonderful place for information and resources. Her patients really liked reading other peoples stories and the non biased information. I would encourage anyone with questions to talk to their doctors, friends and consult this site.

I'm Taking Charge is charging ahead to provide support and valuable information to breast reconstruction patients. The expert advice combined with the lived experience of patients assist in the process and care so many women seek during their breast reconstruction process. They convey compassion and care.

Helpful and easy to navigate. My 60 year old neighbor was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. We found this site and it helped reassure her and gave her avenues to pursue while providing her with information to ask questions of her doctors and make informed decisions.
