The stories published by I'm From Driftwood (IFD) taught me what I thought I knew, but had never really understood: that being L, G, B or T is both a daily struggle and a daily privilege. Reading (and watching) the stories of people throughout the USA and across the world is a reminder that life doesn't simply consist of a 'first' and everything that follows afterwards - it's a constantly evolving set of circumstances that are never predictable, never easy and never less than challenging and surprising. What IFD's founder, Nathan Manske, has created is an archive that exists at the most personal - and most important - level. It's the narrative of who we are and what we would wish to be.
I'm From Driftwood (IFD) is one of the most important and effective organizations to the LGBT community. Having watched this organization grow from an idea to a recognized 501(c)3, I have been continually inspired by the dedication and creativity of Executive Director Nathan Manske and his team. Without a single doubt, I am certain that IFD will continue to inspire and play a pivotal role for this community.
