Causes: International, International Development
Mission: Our mission is to help businesses realize the economic, social and environmental benefits of green business practices through a green business certification program.
Results: We've worked with over 30 businesses to help them assess how they use energy and resources. We have installed over 10,000 efficient faucet aerators in businesses throughout Central Illinois. We also have had over 40 student interns and have worked with hundreds more students via classes and student groups to provide them with experiential learning opportunities.
Target demographics: small and medium-sized businesses in the office/retail and restaurant/cafe industries, community members and students
Geographic areas served: Illinois
Programs: We provide a green certification program for small to medium-sized businesses in the office, retail, restaurant, and cafe industries, and provide resources to help the businesses understand how and why they can go green. We then promote their green business with a window decal, press release, highlights poster and through our many social media means. We also have a direct install program in working with the utility company, Ameren Illinois, to implement efficient technologies such as faucet aerators and LED exit sign kits. We are also running a pilot program with two hotels in Peoria in working with students at Illinois State University to help them go green.
