Mission: Ignite afterschool (the organization) is a non-profit organization founded in 2014 with a mission to unite minnesota's afterschool community and strengthen afterschool programs through partnership, education, and advocacy. The purpose of the organization is to forge partnerships that create shared efforts across the afterschool field that close access gaps to afterschool and ensure professional development, resources and trainings across the state to improve program quality.
Programs: Accomplishments in ignite's policy and issue education program area: 150 guests attended lights on afterschool, an event that awarded 12 afterschool champion awards and launched new issue education videos and regional data briefs using minnesota student survey data. 130 afterschool and youth policy advocates attended the youth policy forum to learn more about 2017 legislator successes and future priorities for youth policy. Partnered with 4 organizations to host youth day at the capitol which trained 450 young people about the legislative process.
accomplishments in ignite's professional development and continuous improvement program area: built professional development capacity by training 15 afterschool staff from across the state to deliver the beyond the bell curriculum. 300 people from over 100 organizations participated in making meaning with multiple data sets (m3) ignite's signature continuous program improvement process. Over 200 people from 147 organizations engaged in professional development at ignite's biennial conference, a partnership with scimathmn. 15 organizations from across the state met monthly for a year to improve the quality of stem learning through ignite's stem in afterschool cohort.
accomplishments in ignite's partnership's program area: launched the afterschool blueprint: a roadmap to collaboratively build a statewide system of professional development for youth workers. Held 3 regional meetings in greater mn which brought 75 people from over 25 organizations together.
