Mission: The mission of the idesg shall be to develop and administer the process for policy and technical standards development for the identity ecosystem framework. The idesg shall bring together all of the interested stakeholders, both in private and public sectors, to confirm that the identity ecosystem framework provides a minimum baseline of privacy, security, interoperability, and ease-of-use through standards and policies, without creating unnecessary barriers to entry.
Programs: Idesg published version 1 of its identity ecosystem framework (idef) and has created the idef registry and begun accepting registration by self-attestation. These rules of the road for the use of digital identity and personal information for online transactions represent the first well rounded set of requirements, built on existing standards and best practices, that incorporate usability, privacy, security, and interoperability. The registry work is now continuing to produce an operational manual and begin mapping the baseline requirements to other frameworks such as the kantara identity assurance framework.
idesg promoted and collaborated with regards to the idef and registry with other organizations including with the national institute for standards and technology (nist) and their national strategy for trusted identities in cyberspace (nstic), along with their pilot programs. The idesg also presented their work at plenary conferences both in person and virtual conferences and at other national identity and access management conferences.
