Mission: Provide english language learning in under-resourced communities in third world countries and u. S. Immigrant population centers through the use of computer based software and the internet.
Programs: Over the course of 2014, all iwle labs ceased operations due to the planned obsolescence of the rosetta stone software licenses on which iwles educational system relied in order to deliver english language learning. The more than six dozen rosetta stone software licenses iwle owned and provided to its english language learners as their learning platform were rendered useless by rosetta stone when the company stopped supporting them on june 30, 2014. Within two months, the server which housed the licenses imploded, causing irreparable damage to the learning content. Iwle had neither the time, nor the financial or intellectual resources to write proprietary software that would allow business continuity. And despite a rigorous search for free software that would bridge the gap until a new educational platform could be developed, nothing was able to be found to serve students needs across three countries. Thus, with regret, the board of directors voted unanimously to cease all iwle operations and terminate the corporation at its december 2014 meeting. Furthermore, it voted unanimously to donate all remaining financial assets to st. Pauls episcopal church, delray beach in the hope that the church would find the gift useful in bringing english language learning to its local immigrant population using a pedagogical model that was not technology-dependent.
