Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: I Have a Dream Rescue organization is an all-volunteer based nonprofit organization of responsible pit bull owners and advocates. Our mission is to promote responsible ownership of what used to be “The American Family Dog.” Our goals include awareness, advocacy work, pulling family pets off of death row in shelters and placing them in foster and forever homes and informing the public of the prejudice to this breed that the media, irresponsible owners and breeders have created upon one of the most loyal dogs a family could ever have as a member of their pack. We do what we can to help save pit bulls using fosters and donations from our supporters. We look to fight breed specific laws and show they do not work. IHADRO works to inform the public of the truth there are not vicious breeds, just vicious owners! Education and awareness is a must if the bully breeds are to have half a chance of survival. Only 1 in every 600 pit bulls in shelters will find a home, the other 599 don’t. With staggering numbers like that, why breed? Spay or neuter your dog right away, no excuse not to. We are doing our part in helping the most misunderstood and abused breed. Wouldn’t you like to do your part too?

This is a newer rescue, close to 3 years old, that has very dedicated volunteers that help pull many dogs off of death row to get them fully vetted, spayed/neutered, trained (if necessary) and into a loving home. While their primary focus is to educate about and save pit bulls, they help many different breeds find loving homes. I have witnessed first hand each volunteers dedication and have to say that I am impressed. I have adopted 2 wonderful dogs that, without this rescue, would have not had a shot. Please consider donating to help the cause!
