I am a teacher with Husky Prep Academy. The design is very unique and works. Each teacher is assigned a family, not a student. We are with that family until all students in the family graduate. This allows us to get to know the student and family. We build that trust and work to help the students succeed. It is different from anything I have ever experienced and it works. We also can help the family when needed which helps the students. I love that familyies have flexibilty in their school calendar. Yes, at times it can be long hours and my week is six days not five. I don't get paid but I actually see students succeed. This is the most fulfilling job I have ever had in teaching.
Hi, I am a student at Husky Prep Academy. I am only giving the school 4 stars because I don't like the fact that we don't get to socialize in class like I did at my public school. My friends and I would talk even when the teacher was. I know it was rude and I didn't learn a lot but it was fun. I am still young and want to talk to my friends. I do like how the school teaches me everything. I was behind because I always talked in class and never listened. I am caught up now and working hard in all my classes. I get to talk to my friends after I finish school but I still miss talking to them in class. I understand that I need to stay focused on school and talk after. I am just saying we should have time to talk to friends in class.
I am a teacher at Husky Prep Academy. I have been with the school now for 6 years. At first I was very skeptical that the program could actually work as it is so different. I had been programmed by the regular school system. It is amazing to so how happy the students are and how eager they are to learn. They are more responsible for their own learning. I am no longer just teahing at them. They ask for help when needed and work through their personalized plan at their pace. It is such a diffferent concept from the traditional school view. The students get right to work on their own. If they need a break they ask for one and get that few minutes. I am now a guide in helping them acquire knowledge instead of forcing information on them and moving on. They get time to master the information which never happens in traditional school settings. Every student is challenged at their level in each subject. Having no grades and allowing students to work through their plan is also a mental health benefit. Students are not suffering through anxiety about not understanding something. No one cares what grade they are in because they are achieving mastery. The students are leaders and will help each other as well. It fills my heart now seeing every student achieve. I seeeing the program working everyday. All schools should use this model.
I love how my kids have to stay on the subject area they are having trouble with and learn it before moving on. In regulare school they just move on and don't care that they did not understand a lesson. This hurt them. Now they work until they know the subject before moving on to the next thing. My family is happy with Husky Prep Academy.
Everyone is so kind and caring. They are always looking out for the whole family. They understand that things in the family impact kids learning. They try to help with anything they can. My family was homeless. They helped us through really hard times. They helped us get things straight and in motion. We are no longer homeless. My kids knew that during that tough time the teachers were there when they needed to talk or needed extra time. They understood that school is where they had to focus. They have all achieved higher then they would have in our local public school. They are happy, healthy, and have a great education. Husky Prep is not just a school. They become part of the family. We are blessed to be part of this great family.
My children have only been at Husky Prep a few weeks but I have seen a big difference in their attitudes and responsibility. My only concern so far is the mastery requirement. When they tested in they had gaps back through elementary. The school requires that they fill them in and show 100% mastery before moving in to grade level classes in those subjects. I see the need for this since they did not get it in their old public school I just don't want them to see themselves as behind their friends. They are doing very good and gaining that ground. They are happier. I will hae to wait and see how things work out after a little longer.
I am so happy with Husky Prep Academy. My daughter and son both go to school with them. They get help with the classes they need sand work on college classes in ones easy for them. My son is going to be an engineer. He will graduate in December from high school and with is associate degree. My daughter wants a degree in art and dance. She has 2 more years in high school. They are both so happy. I am happy my kids go to Husky Prep Academy.
My name is Anita. My chilren just started at Husky Prep Aug 15 of this year. They are now in their 2nd week of school. I use to have to fight with my kids to get them to attend school. They were getting up early on their own by the 3rd day of school. They love how they can review material they need to multiple times. The fact that they believe in them working for 100%s scared me. My son has been cheering for himself as he gets that 100%. They don't let them move on unless they show they know the material. My son is now happy when he gets things wrong the first time an then works for that 100%. They have learned that you have to make mistakes to master things already this past week. What a novel idea! Seeing where you are and working to improve and not be told we are moving on sorry you did not understand it. My kids have been so happy and are enjoying school now. Great program!
I hae to say I was surprised at approach Husky Prep Academy has with each child's education. When my kids transferred into the program my oldest had a 4.0 in 9th grade. When he did the placement test it showed so much missing from his education at all levels. He was so surprised that he had these problems also. The teacher explained how they work for mastery at all levels and require it before a student can graduate. He was ok with that since he had no idea how to do certain things. He moved through the mastery process fast and gained so much more confidence. I undertands now that he was being taught to take a tet and not succeed in life. He now has the mastery to succeed! He will graduate this coming school year from Husky Prep Academy. He will also have his Associate Science degree plus classes toward his 3rd year. He has done 3 internships in the area he is studying that came through Husky Prep Academy, each giving him different looks at the career field he wants. He has been hired part-time by one of the company's he he did an internship with. They are helping with cost of books right now for his college class but will pay his tuition and books after high school graduation. He has a resume in his field already! Thank you Husky Prep Academy for caring enough to help each individual student get on the right path to their future!
I want to share my experience with Husky Prep Academy. They are not like other schools. They take their time and help. My daughter was having trouble in public school. She was not learning and was being bullied. The school would not do anything to help her. I didn't know what to do. I found Husky Prep and talked to them and they said they could help and she would not be bullied. She was in 4th grade when we enrolled. I say we because they really make learning a family focus. She is now in middle school. She has not had a single problem with bullies. She is confident and has goals. She has not just caught up but is ahead and taking college classes. She understands her education is her job and she loves learning now. I am so proud of her and thankful for Husky Prep Academy.
My son was always getting good grades but could not explain to me what he was learning. I was worried. When I put him with Husky Prep they found he was actually behind. I was really confused as he was a good student with A and B grades. My son told me the placement test was hard. I found out that the school he was in was not teaching him all he needed and only what they were going to test on. I feel the public school let my son down. His Husky Prep teacher worked with him to get him all the missing skills. He is now on grade level 4 months later. He worked hard all summer to get those skills and we would never have known it. He is now confident and can tell me what he has learned each day. I am so happy my son is learning everything now and not just what is on a test. He is happy to go to school and excited when he learns. Thank you
I love Husky Prep Academy for my kids. They are no longer bored in classes they are ahead in. They get the help in subjects they are behind in. They don't just move them on to the next grade like other schools. The kids have to show they know the material in each subject to move to the next level. They work at their own pace. This means they learn it because they are focused on what they need. Both my kids had missing areas all the way back to kindergarten. They had to show they knew the areas before moving on. They took a little time to go over all the stuff they were missing to make sure they knew everything. Other schools just pusked them on without giving them all they needed. My kids are more confident now because they have know the material they were missing. They don't fight about doing their work because they know it is their job. They are more responsible. They are Huskies!
It is so great to see parents involved in their kids education. They are part of the Husky family here. Their role is so important. It is a shock at first to new families as communication is such a big key of the program. They always say they never knew the regular school systems are designed to keep parents uninvolved and in the dark. Husky Prep understands that your child is your child. Parents are so happy to know that they are respected and what they know their child best. They are partners in guiding the student to their success. The family focus proves here proves that strong families build student who achieve success.
I was not sure my daughter would like the idea of showing 100% mastery at every grade level to move on but I was wrong. Husky Prep Academy explains everything to the kids in their language. They demand that they take responsibility for their learning. They have to fill in missing parts in their mastery of every grade level, starting with kindergarten, until they reach 100% and are on grade level if they are behind. My daughter is in middle school. She had many gaps all the way back in her mastery. Instead of just putting her in her grade she had to prove she had the mastery first. She spent a few months getting up on all subjects and working hard each day. She says she is so happy they made her do it because subjects make sense now. Whe knows all the math foundations and is doing algebra this year. She is a better writer and has learned cursive. Thank you Husky Prep!
Thank you to everyone at Husky Prep Academy for helping my kids learn. During covid we moved to Florida. It was hard to the right school for my kids. They each learn differntly and like different subjects. A neighbor recommended Husky Prep Academy. My kids enjoy school now. They have learned so much and are ahead of their friends. I am blessed to have my kids enrolled at Husky Prep.
I graduated in the spring from Husky Prep Academy. I learned so much as a student. The teachers make sure you have all the book knowledge mastered before you can move on in a subject. They also help you to take responsibility for yourself, your own education, and teach you to be a leader. I am so happy they did this. I am now living on campus at college as a junior with students who have been here for two years and they are still unable to take care of themselves. They are always running around trying to figure out what to do and don't have time to do it because they do not stress the important things. I have had no problems at all. I have the confidence in myself to face each day and know when and how to ask for help if needed. I put my studies first because that is my job. Husky Prep has prepared me to take on these challenges and succeed. I also know I can reach out to them at anytime for help still. Huskies are family. Huskies are leaders. I am proud to be a Husky.
My husband has been working with Husky Prep Academy for 4 years now. At first I was not sure this could work out. I have to say, I am a believer in everything they do first hand now. My husband is not a teacher so let me start by making that clear. He is a behind the scenes person that you never know is there. The way they look at a child's learning and tell them it is their responsibility makes so much sense. These kids walk around the empowered by their own knowledge that they have control over. It is amazing to see the difference in the attitude of the kids after they adjust to the idea. I admit I laughed at it when he told me about it at first but after seeing it first hand and seeing the kids grow I was wrong. They are true leaders. Bless Husky Prep Academy
My teachers are great! I love the new location we have. It is so nice and safe. My classes are around my parents going the hospital for my dad's therapy and appointments. It works out. I love that I get to be home with them and help out my mom and they know I have class when he has appointments so they don't have to worry. Having a flexable school that fits my needs is less stress on me so I can relax and learn. It is also less stress on my parents. Thank you for being here for us and helping me reach my goals in life.
They help my son. He is good boy. They help me read write. My son will go college and be police. He help person. I thankful for they help us.
They are always there to help. They are not just for the students but for the family. What ever they can do to help they will do.
Excellent school of tomorrows leaders. They teach foundations and a student does not move on until they have a firm mastery of that concept. The progress of student mastery is based on the student which is where it should be. This is a great program. Students learn not to take a test but have mastery of required skills. The difference is leadership. Life will overtake those taught to test. Those taught for mastery will learn to solve the problems in world tomorrow.
I am blessed to have found Husky Prep Academy for my children. I was at another appointment at the VA and my son was upset because he was missing school again. He's smart and likes school and I was feeling like a bad mom for having to make him come with me but know I may not make it home to get him after school. My daughter was just watching her video. Another parent saw my frustration and gave me the it's ok look and we started talking. He told me about Husky Prep Academy. He pointed out his son sitting in the chair working on a tablet, doing schoolwork. He was a year younger then my son and totally into what he was doing. He explained it was not just make-up work he was actually doing his lessons and not missing school. We talked through therapy and I called the school as soon as we got in the car. I could not believe there was a school for children of disabled veterans. My prayers had been answered! I talked with my children and explained the setup and didn't know how they would take to the new idea. They were excited. They were being bullied for missing school so much, even by the teachers slightly. It was refreshing to see them excited about school and learning. They were in tested and placed in classes within 2 days and we off. We have been part of the Husky family now for 5 months and my family has become happier. The kids enjoy school. They are learning and growing at their pace. My son is flying through science and math classes. He loves coding. He is getting help in grammar. My daughter is creative. She enjoys the fact that she can do art as she likes as decide what it is she thinks is art. I have seen her go through many things and lately she is into flowers. She is also not just drawing and arranging them but now enjoying the STEM classes. She has a number sense and brings that out in her perfect drawings of flowers. She is happy taking advanced math with drawing classes. They never miss a day of school because I need to go to my appointments. The school is designed for our needs and is such a blessing for my family.
This year proved to try my mental and physical abilities. I was finishing my high school career as well as being enrolled in virtual college courses. I was set to graduate with my high school diploma Memorial Day weekend when life ad other plans. May 3, 2021 a car racing through the parking lot at our local Wal-Mart hit me. I was hospitalized for three weeks followed by rehabilitation. I was in bad shape. The school director made sure my finals were held at the college until I was able to take them. I was able to take my finals in June and complete my classes. My diploma was given to me at a party attended by a bunch of the doctors and nurses who cared for me in my front yard. I sat in a wheelchair with tears in my eyes because this day was made possible by so many. I was alive because of all those who took care of me. I achieved this because the program at Husky Prep Academy made sure I never gave up and pushed me to be my greatest self. Today, I am walking. Today, I am enrolled full-time as a college pre-med student. I thank everyone who have touch my life but especially those at Husky Prep Academy for teaching me to never give up on myself and always "Achieve to Succeed"!
So happy that my kids are Huskies! They never never stopped learning when everyone else shut down. My friends kids are so behind in school and are having anxiety issues. For my family, nothing changed. Everything was normal. They kept to their learning and stayed on task. They actually learned more when we could not go anywhere as they had more time to focus on their subjects that where always waiting for them. When things opened up, we took our breaks. Love the school. Love the staff. Love that my kids actually jumped ahead and didn't get left behind. Husky Prep is the for those that care about their kids learning and their kids future. We are blessed to be part of the husky family.
So excited today! I have gotten accepted to all 4 of my college choices! This is a big thing for me. Four and a half years ago I started attending Husky Prep Academy with a gpa of 1.8. I had bad learning problems and no one cared. The teachers here would not let up. They worked with me. They made me redo classes and work year around to get on track. When I pushed back the pushed me because they care. They always told me the truth and gave it to me straight. They said I could work in school and learn to have a better life tomorrow or good off and waste time in public school and struggle the rest of my life. They made me be responsible for me. It was the best thing that anyone ever did for me. I am going to college!!! Oh, I have scholarships to cover everything too!!
I was homeschooled. My mom thought she was doing good following the books she got for me. They followed the state stuff. When I first started at Husky Prep I had to take tests. It showed all the stuff I missed. We checked the books and the stuff wasn't even in the books. They explained it was because the state standards are what the books are printed for which is what kids get tested on. There was stuff back in 1st grade I was missing. They said it was because the work on national foundations and not a single test. When I had to go back and learn my missing stuff as that is part of the program. At first I was like I already passed those grades. They explained it was not about being in a grade but about having the foundation. Once I started learning what I was missing stuff started clicking. Things made sense. School is easier and not stressful like they said it should be. I like school now. I will be the first person in my family to graduate highschool. I also plan to work ahead and dual enroll. I want to go to college. I understand how I learn now because no one ever told me that before. Thank you for helping me understand how I learn and what I needed. I will achieve my goals because I am a husky.
As the D2 campus PA, it is a pleasure to work with such a well rounded program. Education is influenced by so much and the families know that if I call we are working together with their primary to make sure everyone is healthy and ready to learn. In a pinch, they know they can even come in and see me. Our community is healthier. Our students learn more as they spend less time out of school. I love my job and seeing the positive impact I make everyday. What forward thinking for education to include family health care.
I have been serving on the board of this unique program for a few years now. The letters I have had the pleasure of reading from the families who are served bring tears to my eyes and joy to my heart. Over my time on the board I have been able to meet in person many families at events and see the excitement on the faces of the students as they demonstrate their new discoveries in learning. It is a privilege to be a part of such a unique program. One that focuses on each child individually, the families as a whole unit, the community of the school, and the community they live in while being proud Americans.
As an educator, I have never seen a school that actually educates children on the foundation of learning should be a challenge but stress free. This was a joke that I kept in the back of my mind until I saw it in action. The kids here, do not move on until they master those foundation skills so those stressors are gone. I never have seen anything like this before and it works! The students learn but not only learn they master the information and can use it. They remember it even if they take time off. It is amazing to see how happy they are. Yes it is more work for teachers. Every student is at a different place and working on a different subject. I am so proud to be part of this wonderful program. I get to teach for the joy of teaching as we cater to every student. What a difference we make!
Everyone is so kind and caring. They want you to be your best and make sure everyone in the family is safe. I wish I had started here when we first moved here. They always are checking on everyone and everyone is one big family. We help each other and thus we better ourselves and our community.
This year has been different for many with Covid-19. For my kids they just kept learning. They just moved right along and the extra time home just gave more time to learn. They started the new school year with a few courses finished for this year which freed up their time for other classes or interests. Other kids moaned about the lack of what to do over the summer, our kids were productive and focused. Husky Prep Academy reached out to every family ongoing and made sure everyone was ok and everyone had what they needed. The opportunity to keep working keep the kids minds occupied, helped kept us parents from going crazy, and gave the kids an edge. As things opened they have been able to take time off and enjoy life and can do so as we families decide to without penalty. Gotta love Husky Prep!
My daughter is able to work ahead of friends in public school in subjects she loves and get help in subjects she needs extra help in. She loves Husky Prep and so do we!
I love that I can call, text, message, or email the school at any time on any day about my kids and get an answer. They demand communication and you have every right to ask anything. Unlike a public school where you never know what is going on unless your child says something and you have to make an appointment to speak with someone they believe in family at Husky Prep Academy.
Mom of 4 Huskies
Hello, my name is Douglas. I was getting behind in school because I was at the hospital often with my dad after he was injured serving our great country. My school wanted to hold me back even though I had straight As because of attendance. I never got behind in my work and always stayed in touch with my teachers. This was not even my teachers choice it was the district rule. I could not help that I was needed to be with my family and still did all my work and ended the year with a 3.989 GPA. My mom found out about Husky Prep Academy from another parent at the hospital and we called immediately. I enrolled right away. I was able to not just continue on with my education but dual enroll. I will graduate with high honors and my A.S. degree. I have been accepted to all of my colleges of application and have now picked which one I will attend. I have scholarships that will help with books and housing costs. Husky Prep Academy is a very special place and values our military families.

My son was not getting the help he needed in school. They actually told him he should just drop out and look to get a job at a fast food place. No one would stop and listen to him. He was being bullied everyday at school and was going into a deep depression. He ended up in the hospital after trying to kill himself with pills. I sat by his bedside for 3 weeks praying. and during the first few days a nurse told me about Husky Prep and I called and left a message. Dr. Clark called and talked to me. She called everyday and checked on both of us even though he was not a student of her school. She was more more concerned with his health than his old school ever was. She checked on me and wanted to make sure I was eating and getting some rest also. When things settled down I enrolled him and Dr. Denise started talking to him even while still in hospital. Once he was able to do work she talked with the doctors and they started him off right. He graduated in August after working with Husky Prep for 2 years and a few classes he had not done very well in even. He graduated with honors and a few college credits. He is in such a better place and we are so thankful we found Husky Prep Academy. They are a blessing.
The kids call me Mr. Randy. I am Hector's dad. I help out when I can with the boys on field trips. Hector was not doing good in school because of absences. I have to go to the doctor often. I just got my new prosthetic leg. The county school put him in special education classes because of his absences. Hector is very bright. He only missed school because when I go to the VA I don't get seen and out. I may have to be there all day. Since no one would be there for him to come home to he had to go with us. He got bored in those classes fast. They would not give him work to do when we were at my appointments. He aced the state tests and everything but they did not care. I found Husky Prep by talking to a friend online. I got him signed up and he is off like a rocket ship. He has been there 1 year and has done 3 grade levels from where he tested in at. They let him work all year and anytime. He loves it. He wants to be a scientist. He says he will be taking high school math in the spring. Doesn't seem like much but he is only 9. They are the greatest school ever because they are for Disabled Veteran Families and families with kids who have special needs of any kind. I can not say enough good things about them.
I was so excited to join the adventure of Husky Prep Academy when asked. My husband, however, was unsure at first. To give up my relaxing retirement and return to teaching for no pay. I must be crazy he told me many times until he finally understood the concept. To be a part of this groundbreaking idea and focus my time and attention on kids who need it most. Families who have sacrificed for my freedoms. To help these children learn correctly and not focus on a test score. This is what I wanted to be a part of. I have been here since day one and enjoyed every day. I see kids come from the school systems and they are lost and confused. Now, they are eager to learn. They see success. I don't leave any child behind because every child has their own personal learning journey. It is so great to hear them tell me about something they just learned or discovered. They realize they have control of their learning. It is a new concept and they take to it and run. Kids are all different. They learn differently and at different paces. Husky Prep recognizes that. I am so proud to be a part of this program.
Cindy is loving learning for the first time in her life. Kids use to bully her and the teachers would not do anything about it. The Principal would tell her to stay away from them. She would come home bruised and the school just said she was never in real danger. She is now part of her learning family, and that is what it is. Everyone is involved from the teachers to the families to the kids working together, whether online or in person. There are no groups on popular and unpopular. Everyone is just a great student aiming for their personal best to get to their goals. She is not stressed out and is learning so much. She has actually already gained an entire grade level in math this year. She loves math now and would do it all day if allowed. Husky Prep has saved our daughter and given her a future. Thank you for caring about these kids and doing everything you do. You make an impact on their life and future in such a positive way.
I am in 6 grade. I just started here this year. I did not know how far behind I was. I am working hard. I want to learn and get a good job. My teacher helps me all the time. She tells me to do it until I know it. I can go on after I know it. That means I master it. Public school left so much out that I felt lost at first. Now I understand they only teach for the test. We learn everything. We have to master each thing before we can go on. We do it at our pace and how we learn. This makes me want to learn faster and get caught up. I like that I will not be swiss cheese with big holes in my learning anymore. I want to be all filled in and know everything.
Herman is my name and learning is my game. I am in 5th grade. I use to sit in the back of the class and the teacher ignored me and never tried to help me. I would go to sleep because I did not understand and they would not help me when I asked a question. The even told me I was stupid. My dad was so mad when I told him. He put me in Husky and I found out how smart I am. I know how I learn and now learn all the time. They told me everyone learns different and that makes sense because everyone is different. I learn best by listening and making things rhyme and putting them to music. I even put my math problems to music in my head as I do them. It helps me. no one ever told me this was how I learn they just told me I was stupid. I will show them by being my best and achieving. I do this for me. They explained it is my future and education is my job like my dad has his job. I know my mom is looking down from heaven and is proud of me. The most important thing is that I am now proud of my work. I will become a policeman and help others like Husky helps me.
Cassie has been hospitalized on and off most of her short life. When it was time to start school I enrolled her at our local school and watched her go off to her first day of kindergarten like all moms do. By the end of the year she had missed half the school days due to being in the hospital for medical reasons. She had excuses and I always got her work and worked with her. She is very bright and even ahead for her age but this was not going to make a difference to the school. I was told it would be best if I just pulled her out of school and home schooled her so she would not get behind. I floored. She was reading third grade books, knew her multiplication tables, was cursive writing, and they wanted me to pull her out because she may get behind when all they were teaching all year were some simple sight words and counting. You bet I pulled her out. They were not worried about teaching my Cassie I can tell you that! I started looking for a tutor, a school, anything that would challenge her and work with her. I found Husky Prep Academy and they have been our saving Grace. My daughter is now 8 years old but still has to go to the hospital often. She is on a varied grade plan for learning which we both love. She has her regular elementary PE and Art and then she has all middle school level classes for her core classes. In science and math she is in 8th grade physical science and algebra. She is loving algebra. The fact that she is not being held back and can learn as fast as she wants to is great. If she is at the hospital, she can get into her classroom via computer. She has studied French and is now learning German this year. She says she is not sure what language she likes best to do for her high school credits when the time comes. Husky Prep Academy is a very special place. They do not charge us to attend. They volunteer their time because they care. They help every child learn at their pace not on a given calendar pace. We are so lucky to be part of the Husky family, because that is what it is a caring family that helps children develop academically and into the leaders of tomorrow.
My son has been at Husky Prep for 1 year. When my wife first talked about enrolling him there I was not totally onboard. He was struggling in school and I did not understand the way they were going to help him by not having him in his grade. My wife was right. Yes, I said it and will say it again. My wife was right. My son enjoys school work and asks if he can do work on the weekends and over holidays. When other kids were home all summer, he wanted to do some work each day. He does not struggle because he knows if he does not get something he works on it until he does before moving on. It is no longer you didn't get it, oh well we are moving on. That is how the cycle begins in public schools. They make sure they master each skill before they move on. This model is so perfect it will create the leaders of the future! The public schools are creating master test takers. Husky Prep is creating our future! Thank you, Husky Prep.
My name is Yasmen. I am a Husky. I am in 6 grade. I could not read or write. Now I read and write. I work hard to learn. Learning is fun. I can type. I can do math. I never learn until I am a Husky. I am smart. I can do what I dream. I learn now. Husky!
Husky Prep Academy Inc is a very unique educational program. When I was approached to lend input as a Board Member I was surprised. I am a retired U.S. Air Force service member, not a CEO. Then, they explained the model to me. It was not going to be the standard school and it was going to actually focus toward the needs of Disabled Veteran families. I knew I wanted to be a part of this wonderful idea. As a Board Member, I get to give program review and direction. As a fellow Veteran, I assist with resources and outreach for the families. I would do this even if I was not a Board Member as this program makes such an overall difference in the lives of these children and the families as a whole. Husky Prep Academy was the only school in the area after Hurricane Irma to be out in the neighborhoods helping. Even the elementary students were helping sorting donations for distribution, handing out water, and giving hugs. They go beyond and teach the foundations of leadership as well as educational excellence. I am proud to be a part of this program.
I volunteer to help keep the computers working at Husky Prep Academy Inc. I have never seen anything like what they do before. First, they do it for absolutely no pay and work their butts off. They are there 6 days a week and just about 10 hours every day without a single complaint. They say it is the very least they can do with what these families have gone through and what they have given up for freedoms. Secondly, the students are learning at speeds I have never seen before. When they get a new student they test them and I am involved in the team meeting. They come in so behind, even if they had all As in the subject they are testing on, just because the schools only teach for the state tests. The kids have no foundations to build on. Husky Prep has to back every student up and fully teach them. It is amazing how they do this and how the kids take to this. The kids don't feel upset about having to start at different grades because grades don't matter here. Here it is all about learning at their speed, whatever that is. I even had my grandson moved to this school because he was only being taught for the test. He tested two years behind in foundations. Now he is above his grade level and loving school. This program helps so many kids who the public schools wrote off in special education programs and now are success stories and average students who now have found their talent it is a blessing. We are so lucky to have found materials and things that we needed to make the program work. People laugh at me when I tell them I don't get paid for volunteering and the school doesn't get any state or federal money. What they do is make sure children learn to think and not just pass a test. This place is amazing!
Husky Prep helped me learn. They taught me I can do anything. I can read now and write. I do math in my head now. I study pre-algebra now. They help me understand that I am not just to sit but to learn. I love to learn. I never learn in public school. They make me sit. I can do anything!
I want to tell everyone about my experience with Husky Prep Academy. I am a disabled U.S. Army Veteran who volunteered to serve during Vietnam. I volunteered because I was brought up that it was part of our responsibility when we were young to serve our Nation. I had begun to think that was a thing of the past. Everyone is against everyone and no one takes time to learn their history, say thank you, and respect the core values of our freedom. After Hurricane Maria came through these students came and checked on me. No one else did. They cleaned up my yard, tarped my roof, cleaned out the inside of the house from all the water damage, and covered the broken window. They came back with water and food to help get through. These kids put in a new window, put on a roof, painted the inside of my house and the outside of my house. These kids did not ask for anything but just said: "Thank you, you deserve so much more." To see even the kids in wheelchairs pulling wagons of debris to the curb and everyone working together made me want to cry but so proud as well. There is hope for our future and these students are it. None of the public school kids came around to help. They were out complaining about not having electric to play video games and making fun of the kids working. Thank God for Husky Prep Academy and parents that care. These kids will be our leaders, our future.
I was confused when my child's teacher told me she couldn't teach her and she would have to go into special classes. As she talked more it became clear. She was not worried about teaching my daughter she was worried about came in must have gotten the same talk.t who would pass the state test and who would not. The parent that left the room crying as I went in must have gotten the same talk. She never gave any ideas to help her or offered to help her. She just kept saying she won't pass the state test in reading so she has to be placed in the special class. I asked why she always got As and I was not told this before. Se just said the lower teachers do not focus on the test as much and at the third-grade level there is no time for remediation. I left the meeting with the paper in hand confused as to what to do. I called my friend crying as I drove home. She told me about Husky Prep Academy and said that her neighbor's children went there. I looked them up and called as soon as I got home. I thought I would get a voicemail as it was after 5 pm. The director picked up the phone and instead of selling me on the school asked me about my daughter. She then told me about their program and how it could help her. There was a light at the end of the tunnel I had just been thrown in. We met and she talked to my daughter. I was so impressed at the way she talked to her and asked her questions that I had never even thought to ask. My daughter was smiling and laughing with her as they talked about her education and how their program worked. I knew this was the place for her. This all happened in November 2017. It is now September 2018 and Mariza has bloomed at Husky Prep Academy. She is in 4th-grade and at her grade level in reading, above in writing, spelling, and comprehension, and doing 6th-grade social studies which is her favorite subject. If it was not for Husky Prep Academy she would never have learned how to learn. She would have been stuck in a room so her test score would not have hurt the school and forgotten about. She has a future. I thank them every day.
I graduated from Husky Prep Academy Inc in July. I am grateful my parents care for me and found this great school for me. I was given a chance to learn everything at my speed and not just move on to the next thingand not know what was going on. I learned everything before moving to the next thing. They taught me that learning is a ladder and you have to understand and master the lesson before moving on. This taught me how I learn best. I was able to go from failing in public school to an honor roll student. The public school put me in special education classes. Husky Prep taught me how I learn best and I graduated high school and finished 15 college credits. I am living the Husky motto "Achieve to Succeed!"
My son alwas in trouble. He not understand math. He has learned math. He not in trouble in 1 year. He is smart. He read good and show me. I very happy.
My daughter started in Husky Prep Academy in November on 2017. She had been held back and was still struggling. I did not like the fact that without testing the school just told me my daughter had a learning disabilty and belonged in special classes. I contacted Husky Prep Academy and the Director was so kind and explaining their program. I saw hope for my daughter. They enrolled her at her right grade and did just as they said they would. They gave her a personal class setup in every subject based on her needs not her grade. She not only caught up to her grade level in the subjects she was behind but in all subjects went beyond. She finished the year out with 11 credits completed as a 4th grader. She is starting this year as a 5th grader and taking 6th and 7th grade main classes. She has so much confidence. She talks about going to college and becoming a vet now. We are so lucky to have found Husky Prep Academy!
My daughter has been with Husky Prep Academy since they opened this this year. I was amazed that they came came to us and asked about us as a family not just her. They really have made sure she is in classes she needs to be as she is weak in areas. They also connected me with classes to help me get more education to help me get ahead in my job. This will help me provide a better life for my daughter. It also shows her I think education is important and am going back to school to get ahead. They care about the whole family succeeding. This don't just give a lesson like public school does and move on. They make sure each student learns at there right pace and way. I can not say enough good stuff about them. I am blessed to have found them. Thank you Husky Prep for what you do every day!
I am putting my son in Husky Prep Academy this year. I was surprised the teacher and principal came to us and talk to us. We live in a motel. I work hard but can not get enough hours. They want to help me too. They ask what the family needs. They really showed they want my son to learn. They do this for no pay. I could not believe it. The public school never come to talk to us and see what we need or what he want to learn or have trouble with and they get paid. These people care and want to help. I am so happy my son is going to school there.
My child is a special needs child. She was put in a special education class a the local school that only taught her to take a nap in the afternoon and in the morning she was given a kindergarten reading book and told to sit and try to read it or go and play in the corner. My child is 12 years old and in 7th grade. I took her out of the local school and put her in Husky Prep Academy Inc's pilot program this year. She worked on 7th grade work for every class and never took a nap. She loved going to school. She actually proved to herself how much she can do. She finished all the classes and got Honor Roll for actually learning and working. I am so proud of her! She could not have done this without the caring teachers at Husky Prep Academy Inc. They took the time to work with her and give her confidence in herself. They gave her a gift that she has forever. She wants to read to me everyday now and has a journal that she writes in. Without them she never would have discovered this ability in herself. I hope they are able to get more resources to continue. Husky Academy Prep Inc. is a place of miracles!

My daughter has been attending the pilot program this year. The teachers are wonderful! They have figured out how to teach her and she is learning so much. She understands how to learn now. It is amazing what they have taught her about herself. She knows what she needs to do to learn something new now. It is not a struggle for her to learn. She loves to read now and wants to read to me! They are great! I am so thankful they are here and will be able to help my daughter continue to learn.
Thank you,
