This shelter has more than $5 million in assets and yet the fences around the outside pens were allowed to rot and fall down. The state raided this shelter and charged its president with animal cruelty. The state ran the shelter for six months and adopted out nearly all the animals there. Many had been there for years. For years, no efforts are made to get pets adopted. The shelter director entered an agreement with the prosecutor to hold the charges in abeyance as long as she does not interfere with shelter management. She still comes to the shelter every day and her mere presence is intimidating to staff and volunteers and yet she is allowed to continue. Her sole duty now is to fund raise. Why does there need to be fund raising when there's $5 million plus in the bank? The shelter could live of the interest alone. The shelter is also embroiled in a lawsuit with the NJSPCA and a former employee who cooperated with prosecutors. All of this is well documented in the courts and media.
