Mission: Our mission is to provide access to volunteer opportunities for our local senior community. We believe in creating and building a sense of community network, to help one another connect to fulfilling volunteer opportunities, and connect to the needs of our community.
Target demographics: Seniors 55+ find local volunteer opportunities that offer benefits and a community to connect with,
Direct beneficiaries per year: Feed over 30k people, drove 95 locals, helped children in Rio Dell, Arcata and Eureka school districts.
Geographic areas served: Humboldt County, Del Norte, Sonoma, Lake and Mendocino Counties
Programs: We offer two senior programs through NCO Inc: RSVP, or Retired Senior Volunteer Program, which connects senior volunteers with our local RSVP stations that have volunteer needs such as driving/delivery services, check-in calls, food bank/prep, safety and disaster relief and community wellness groups. There are many options that RSVP volunteers can get involved with to connect with your community. FGP, or Foster Grandparents program, which connects senior volunteers within a set income bracket to local classrooms to help mentor/tutor children from headstart to 5th grade (and above if it is desired). This includes remote options such as Zoom book reading, card making, letter correspondence and reading books on tutor/mentoring and/or betterment and wellness. Fictional titles are welcome once vetted by your local program coordinator.
