Mission: To help low-income and homeless families and individuals achieve self sufficiency by providing affordable housing, family support services, job readiness training and economic development opportunities.
Programs: Social services it is human solutions goal to help households experiencing homelessness and very low-income families find and maintain stable housing. To that end, our social services staff work directly with low-income and homeless people seeking assistance, mainly to find and keep stable housing and find employment/gain job skills. We provide a range of anti-poverty services including eviction prevention, rent & utility assistance, trauma recovery groups, transit passes, and skills training. This year, 569 families (937 adults and 1,020 children) found emergency shelter in our family center and 511 single women spent at least one night in the gresham womens shelter, which has no time limit to a guests stay. We receive generous donations of clothing, blankets, household goods, and food throughout the year that our staff distribute at no charge to participants in need.
properties- human solutions owns and operates 17 affordable apartment communities, two commercial service sites and two emergency shelters. The revenue and expenses for 11 of the properties is reflected in this program area. Revenue includes activities like rental income from tenants and government subsidies, while expenses include occupancy, debt and repairs and maintenance.
housing since 1988, human solutions has provided affordable rental housing to low- and very low- income families in east portland and east multnomah county. Human solutions currently owns and operates 720 units of permanently affordable rental housing in 17 apartment communities in three cities: fairview, gresham, and portland. This year, 801 households with 2,909 individuals lived in our affordable housing communities. Our housing team focuses on three activities: 1. Asset management our asset managers decide how to operate and finance our affordable rental housing units. 2. Resident services we have tenant coordinators on-site at every apartment community to support the low- and very low-income families. 3. Real estate development our housing development staff identify new site and financing opportunities to create a pipeline of new real estate investments.
