Mission: The mission of hug me tight is to provide affordable and quality childcare to disadvantaged children ages 1-10 within the economically depressed areas in allegheny county, specifically the hill district, pittsburgh, pa and its surrounding community.
Programs: Hug me tight cared for an average of 50 at risk children per month. The care includes but is not limited to the following education head start program, meals, field trips, and social/emotional interventions. The center implemented a positive role model male internship program. This goal of this program was reciprocal in nature where young male college students interacted with children to encourage development of pro-social behavior and to provide male students developmentally appropriate practice with young children to use when they themselves become future fathers or caregivers. Hug me tight also implemented a volunteer mature worker program which added the feature of intergenerational exposure.
