These people are monsters. They literally do not care about the animals. They care about money. They took every single tooth out of my poor 6 lb dog's mouth without even asking me. I thought she was going in to get three teeth removed and they're ridiculous. Excuse was that she had Decay or cavities. My veterinarian told me that only root rot would be an excuse to take all of her teeth. And I have taken my dog to the vet twice a year every year to get her teeth scraped as she was an abused dog and will not let me brush her teeth. But she let the vet scrape her teeth every year and it was fine. She had very strong teeth. On top of that, they absolutely refused to let me bring back cash and reverse the credit card charges because I did not realize that they were going to charge over $30 for using a credit card. So on top of the bill being literally almost $400 more than I expected, they absolutely refused and said you should have read the signs. We have them posted everywhere. Well I'm looking at my dog and I'm worrying about my dog. I'm not reading signs about credit card fees so they should have at least let me come back and rectify that. But no, they literally hung up on me and refused to address that issue at all. I truly believe they are bait and switch operation and only care about money. Please do not bring your animal here.

This is the review that I wish I had seen before adopting a pet from HVARS.

Imagine making a four-hour round trip to the shelter with your children, finally bringing home your new puppy, only to have him admitted to the emergency vet a few hours later with a lung so full of fluid that the vet isn’t sure if it’s fluid or a giant mass.

Imagine watching your children go from a state of euphoria, bringing the new puppy into your home, to a state of utter despair as you sit in the emergency vet’s office near midnight on the same day while you’re being told your new puppy might not make it through the night because of something he contracted at the shelter before you picked him up.

Imagine paying for the dog’s life-saving treatment out of pocket, then being told by the shelter that they refuse to pay for it, or even meet you halfway.

This is our experience adopting a pet from the Hudson Valley Animal Rescue and Sanctuary.

I documented Stanlee’s medical journey at this web page: http://www.hvars.net
