I was a follower of this organization for several months eager to hear more information on each horse they purchased at auction. When I stopped seeing any updates, I started asking questions both privately and then publicly. My private inquiries were ignored and then my public, polite comments were deleted and I was blocked. I encourage all donors to research carefully before supporting an organization that has horses go missing. Ask for updates, pictures and proof that they are being cared for. Between an onsite incinerator and directors that are trained in captive bolt, I shudder to think where the all the missing horses are.

This is a video of a kill/meat buyer who frequents the same horse auction as Horse Plus Humane Society & confirms first-hand that they OUTBID private buyers routinely!
"Straight from the horses mouth" so-to-speak.
This serves to verify what others have been saying about this so-called rescue who kills more horses than they spend money to rehabilitate-based on their euthanasia scoring system.
They have been doing this for a long time, run out of California a few years back, now in Tennessee. They are extremely good at saying all the right things & pulling the wool over donors eyes. Whenever you have a family making a high lifestyle living ( including cruises for all family members, purchase of high-dollar personal vehicles, etc), it's time to look beyond the "face" they present to the public to see exactly how much actual true rescue they are doing.
Bottom line-follow the money....

Idk why people seem to be so bitter with this place. They all seem to genuinely care for what they do. The place is clean, organized, and well kept. They have a structure and it works flawlessly. We took two beautiful girls home today and we couldn't have asked for a smoother process. they had all hands on deck to make sure everything we needed and wanted was taken care of. The paperwork was simple and straight forward. They answered any and every question we had. Email correspondence was flawless, I always heard back within one business day. I wouldn't worry too much about the nay sayers. They seem to be people who didn't have much actual interaction with the rescue, more people who are living vicariously through other people's fabricated stories.

I saw that Horse Plus had gotten a senior blind mare from an auction. I have two rescued blind horses so I contacted them and expressed my interest in providing her a good home to live out the rest of her years. They very thoroughly vetted me to make sure she ended up in the best possible home. They provided me with records of all the vetting they did and hoof care over the 30+ days she was in their care, she was microchipped, and they even sent me home with a gift bag of horse goodies. And even after all of that they waived her adoption fee.

I think it's pretty awesome they helped a blind senior horse. And she wasn't the only one there. There were several that were oldies and several that were blind in one eye. They even had another that was fully blind although that horse had a very promising adopter meeting coming that following week.

I see the negative reviews all over the internet, but my personal experience with Horse Plus was very positive. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the needs of each animal in their care. The farm was tidy and all the animals looked like they were being well cared for.

Horse Plus is a wonderful organization that I have personally adopted two horses from in the last 4 years. They are phenomenal horses and the staff is very friendly and informative. The horses there are very well cared for. I have great respect for them and what they are doing for the animals. I have never had a bad experience with them. I would adopt another from them in a heartbeat. How anyone can say that they are in it for the money is beyond me. They waived the two $500.00 fees on mine because my husband is a Nam vet and I am in law enforcement. Highly recommend them to anyone looking to adopt a horse.

They refuse to answer how many of the Florida cracker horses they euthanized from the November 2019 purchase. They bought 45 horses for $45,000. Mares and stallions running together. So foals were for sure. How many were euthanized? They will not tell you. Look up Horse Plus Humane Society Exposed on Facebook. That page is eye opening. I started looking back at their previous posts, and so many animals are missing. Moms and foals posted one month, but never mentioned again. Equine house of horrors.

Horse Plus Humane Society is an absolutely amazing organization and don't pay attention to what the trolls try to say on here. I have been to their facility and adopted a horse from them. Their facility was clean, the horses were well cared for, and their staff is extremely knowledgeable. Yes, they do humanely euthanize some horses but they're stepping into the shoes of horse owners who walked away from a suffering horse. Their euthanasia rate is about 25% including horses they rescue from auctions that have cancer, chronic medical conditions etcetera that need humane euthanasia. I applaud this organization for all of their hard work and their weekly episodes show how transparent their organization is and all the amazing wonderful things they do. This organization is absolutely amazing and I really wish there were more organizations out there just like them.

I love Horse Plus Humane Society! They are amazing. I’ve been a volunteer for about 5 years and I’m so impressed with this organization. They are amazing people who truly love animals. They are great with the horses and their staff. The grounds and facilities are well maintained. I highly recommend this organization to potential donors and adopters! Unfortunately you will see some terrible reviews and that is unfortunate. Having personally been here I know this organization is for real and the people are truly amazing.

In my experience, Horse Plus Humane Society blocks many legitimate questions, accuses those that have anything less than absolutely posive, as "haters" or family/friends of kill buyers. Horse Plus routinely posts that people "bash" them and invites/encourages others to engage in barge of demeaning/badgering and berating comments. HPHS claims that without them, horses at auction only have two choices; rescue or slaughter. This is far from true. Many families visit the Cookville TN auction looking for family horses.
It's ridiculous to think that kill buyers are paying slaughter prices at auctions. This would mean that they ship them all the way to the border, pay the expense of fuel, only to recoup their paid price in Tennessee. Furthermore, kill buyers do not spare the expense of "fattening" them up. Untruths are often protrayed. Kill buyers are not paying 400-500 at auctions which would be reflective of what HPHS claims they bid. (50-55c per pound) they want dirt cheap or free horses to make their profit. HPHS engages in using a penetrative captive bolt and has an on-site incinerator. I've personally seen comments with legatimate questions deleted rather than answer questions. HPHS seriously lacks transparancy with the outcomes of most horses. They pop videos after videos as these generate royalties per view. HPHS has 3 known different series and refuse to answer who receives the view income. HPHS had a whopping 76k in office expenses on their 990. That's highly unusual. HPHS refuses to disclose the exact numbers that are killed by a captive bolt. Finally, HPHS, in actuality, hasn't put a real dent in the numbers saved out of their alleged "pipeline." HPHS practices selective purchasing and often show, as in their premier video, not bothering to bid on the end of auction stragglers which represent, very often, the most needy.
HPHS has many red flags. They constantly beg for money and "guilt" the public with claims of "we can only get 5 horses" and so many will die without $ or "we ran out" so many horses will go to slaughter. Now, the latest, "we can't let horses spend Christmas" in the pipeline, so give now! Even though, many will be looking for Christmas horses, ponies, minis to join their private homes.
Seriously folks, the year to date is significantly lower, by almost half, than those that actually crossed the border. Has even 200 put a dent in that number when the euthaniza rate is so high? This organization spent nearly 200k in salaries, collects income personally for the founder as "sheltering/lease" and has personal property values increase expodentially by donations. Now, with the acknowledgement that the rescue has a lease with option to purchase, are you not seeing who the nearly a million in donations is actually really benefiting?
Do your research. NorCal in California prior to Tennessee and change to HPHS, petitions had been started and nothing has really changed.

Do your homework. Research previous name, ask them how many are killed and by what means, how much they personally receive out of public donations etc. See if they answer or if your comment is deleted and you are muted.

Horse Plus Humane is a great organization, I have followed them for years and they always do what is best for each horse regardless of what some say on the internet. They have an excellent YouTube channel and are very transparent you can follow the horse's progress and adoptions on their YouTube channel at this link: https://www.youtube.com/horsehumane/videos

I have gone through the films to follow but am not clear on are how many are adopted, and do not seem to focus or track individual horse's stories.
Although I appreciate the care they take initially with these horses, it would be suspicious if most do not end up in a good home.

Delaying their outcome for money seems extremely wrong.

My experience with H+ has been of wondering when I will get booted from their social media page. They ask for suggestions on how to improve their communications and transparency with followers and donors, yet when you offer how they could improve, the followers berate you as a hater of the organization and H+ lets them continue to ridicule, insult, belittle and bully. H+ practices selective transparency and will not answer questions like who earns the income from the video views? How many horses do you have on your property? What do you do with the equine's bodies after the last act of kindness? I would suggest anybody wanting to donate to this organization to ask frank questions and make sure you get a straight answer from them because they choose to ignore, delete and block versus be transparent.

These people have to know every trick in the book. At at recent auction they had someone else purchase horses for them . People in wigs! Really what are they hiding from??? For fact they were removed from the EQUUS Film channel with a film called Horse Realty Heros. They now do there own little videos called Horse Shelter Heroes not the same thing. EQUUS removed them because they kill a large number of hoses using a Captive Bolt Gun which is what people use at slaughter, I thought this was a rescue not the judge , jury, and executioner! Thin horses some horses deemed unapproachable, not rideable so therefore unadoptable. This rescue won't answer questions, thy block and delete comments they don't want to answer or they don't like! I have over 100 text messages from a former Shelter manager , they text messages reveal very disturbing facts. I donated lots of money, time , and noncash items but never again!!!! These horses get killed for the smallest reason . It's all built on lies and numbers!!! Plese think before you donate and check your rescue. This one truly STINKS and is NOT about the horses!!!!!!!

Greedy, blood hungry people. They refuse to answer basic questions. Refuse to post x rays of animals they killed. And they pay their children and their board members children cash. There is pictures of their kids in their blogs. They are mowing the lawn, working on the tractor, cleaning the property, painting. And even working horses. The Preisners own the property Horse Plus is on. Horse plus donors paid for the buildings, fencing, plumbing, gravel for driveway, and tractor. And now Tawnee and Jason charge Horse Plus $6,500 a month in rent. Because their property has a horse set up now. A set up paid for by donors. The metal buildings on the property were built by Summertown Metals. Look at their account and ask him how much he got paid to put those buildings up. Thats right, Mr Blood provided the buildings. They also control their board. Larry is buying his house from the preisners. Look up General Hay in Bangor California. Its listed as same address as Horse Plus. It was run out of HP barn at the same time they were there. Its owned by the Preisners. HP bought their hay from General hay, providing the preisners with money. Look up Tawnees husband, Jason. His last name is above and starts with a P. He owns and operates Lone Pine Equine, a company that Horse Plus uses to hire the Preisners family. So then they can say they do not get paid by Horse Plus. They get paid by lone pine equine, who is paid by HP. Their kids are all paid cash by HP. Along with the Bloods children. And I have messages from board members stating so. They also euthanize for any reason, I have that in writing from Tawnee herself. I have seen them euthanize horses. They are run through a chute, boxed in and if they move, their neck is pinned. Jason is truly evil. He believes arabians should immediately get euthanized. Same with Pitbulls. Stephen, known as the singing cowboy, is Jasons cousin. Lots of evidence on Facebook. Ask around and you will find proof and groups.

too bad there is not a negative number for rating about Tawnee and Jason. I knew of them in CA. HORRIBLE evil sub humans. EVERY thing about them is fraud. THeir mission is to keep horses from the slaughter pipeline, BUT they seem to think killing horses by starting with a captive bolt gun is ok for them. IT IS INHUMANE captive bolt guns are for slaughter plants,,
They frauded people in CA. about a Kill buyer truck stuck at the border, just to get money. The kill buyer was not even in his truck let alone at the border. She use to EUTH horses herself and even a little Frog, yup she always had someone take photos. Her euth drug was gotten from the local vet. Then she left town,, or chased out? Tawnee wanted to be a humane officer but could not. But she put it on her website any way, The AC officer told her to get it OFF the site. She wanted to be able to shoot an animal; something wrong with a person so obsessed with killing. She is for the most part AFRAID of horses, she killed Arabians up in No. Calif. because they were stallions. Did not even ask a rescue of Arabians to take them. She wants no breeding, wants no horse to go to slaughter, but SHE wants to kill them and a captive bolt gun she uses now is not for killing it is to render an animal unconscious before slaughter. She will not reply to questions, yet she wants money money money people must stop donating to a fraud scamming rescue. SHE is not a HUMANE SOCIETY IT IS NAME ONLY. THE HORSES SHE GETS FACE A HORRIBLE DEATH. nOW IT SOUNDS LIKE SHE IS GETTING DOGS and keeping in the horse barn. will she kill and burn in the incinerator too? HORRIBLE NEWS THIS SO CALLED RESCUE EX DONOR, VERY SHORT TIME I DONATED IN CA.

This is NOT a horse rescue, this is a scam and the animals pay the price. They are NOT a HUMANE Society, it is Just a name. People do not realize this, they are misleading and dishonest. Their mission is to keep horses from going to slaughter, BUT they have a HIGH Euth rate as they do not work with horses to get them re homed. They are suppose to have gelding clinics but they kill stallions so there is no more breeding. Sadly the name is misleading and people need to return their adoptive animals there to find out Tawnee is allowed to use certain words that will allow her to KILL Euthanize the horse. Words Like not adoptable, dangerous, is her common language for killing them. their mission is to keep horses from going to slaughter, BUT it is what this non profit does that is not what the general public knows of. sign over your horse along with MONEY,, and high risk of that horses dead in 30 days. It is sad a non profit uses the name humane society when they are not.. They do not answer questions, posting on the internet of going to an auction in Okla. yet no visual of being even in a parking lot of an auction. asking for donations yet not answering questions of the public is against IRS non profit regulations. NO name of the vet they allegedly used to put down 2 animals from this auction. how odd is that? Public is allowed to know this info. what is the big secret? the area of their rescue in NO. Calif has no welcome mat for this couple. Most rescues HELP the health and welfare of a horse. They are Wanna BEES. wanna be like HSUS, wear shirts like HSUS, want to bring in big bucks like REAL organizations that rescue and rehab animals. Horse Plus, has in the past posted their KILL count on New Years Eve each year. As if its a big milestone that those number of horses were SAVED from the Slaughter pipeline. But they were also not given a chance of rehab or being re homed. Please find a real horse rescue that cares. There is something wrong with an individual that finds glory in find excuse to kill a healthy horses without trying to rehab it. do your home work folks, too many lies can go on the internet, if you are not local to a " rescue" then find a local rescue to donate to. if the locals want nothing to do with people in an alleged rescue, there is a reason.

I am so thankful to be able to post a review that is not blocked or deleted by Horse Plus Humane Society. Somehow the name is so misleading. My disgust with this organization goes beyond hearsay. An employee that also came from California shared many, many text messages with me about them on a daily basis. Messages telling of how they used a Captive Bolt Gun on horses to kill them. Before leaving on a cruise with many of their church people which included their office girl and her family . The
HPHS 2 major players along with the employee supplying me with text messages saying that many of the 45 Florida Cracker Horses that donors paid for to rehab and rehome were put in a head catch and if they were close to 10 even pregnant they killed them with Captive Bolt Gun. Sometimes using it several times on each horse. Never a trainer , never giving these horses a chance. Get this; a man that buys for kill buyers sold these horses to HPHS. Donor dollars of $40 thousand dollars and never did the horses get the first chance the only rejoining they got was the incinerator .
I saw these horses , beautiful , I referred a natural Horseman to them never did they call him! Donors we all got lied to including me and my husband. Not only do the take money and horses never get a chance, but every weekend in November and Dec. we went to HPHS to visit our horse who was staying there for proper shoeing since she was a former Big Lick horse. I gave them plenty of money to allow her to get proper care from the farrier that started the transition. While we were there the condions of the lots the horses were in was horrible with terrible hay sitting in mud with the netting on it. The trainers would put a saddle on backbones which made me
Sick truly sick! If you can't touch a horse without it being fearful why would you put a saddle on it?? Sick , heartless ,pathetic people, only concerned with numbers and money. I will show a photo of a horse I took who was deemed unadoptable since he was not rideable due to being scared of many people due to abuse. They said a Mustang cross, these idiots had know clue he is a Standardbred . According to a former employee they wanted to kill him many times, but 2 people said No. he was there close to 7 months and looked better when he was bought at the auction they always go to. I could go on and on how they left 6 horses in what's called there Euthanasia pen, as the employee said they suffered and she found one dead, she said why buy them to end there suffering only to allow them to suffer for over 10 days because they have a vacation! These people are brutal , heartless liars and a Disgrace to humanity! My understanding is they also own 13 homes they rent , please tell me what rescue has excess money ever???? Donors, Followers open your eyes , mine got opened with so much information first hand , these so called humans need not ever get near a horse! Get this they ordered dog kennels to rescue dogs so they can get a license from DEA to use euthanasia injectables!
Here is photo of my sweet horse they had for almost 7 months, so sad!

Thanks to the employees and volunteers who have left this hell hole in disgust, it is very well known in the horse rescue circles that this brutal place kills more horses than they adopt. According to some, they kill as many as 90%, but fundraise for money to care for and what can only be called imaginary adoptions. According to former workers, they actually have an incinerator on site. Please do not send your beloved horse friends to this literal dead end road.....

I was invited to apply for one of their grant programs. As I dug a bit deeper I learned that accepting the grant would require me to adhere to their 'standards'. Those standards include euthanizing any horse over the age of 10, any un-rideable horse or any horse with a chronic (but manageable) medical condition. Absolutely unacceptable conditions as far as my organization is concerned. The grant money would be helpful but the cost? Unacceptably high. Those are not the standards of a rescue organization.

Horse Plus Humane does an excellent job of rescuing, rehabbing, and adopting out horses that would otherwise be slaughtered. They also actively support other equine welfare organizations (which is how I met them). They post pictures and videos of the horses they rescue, and they post the amount paid for each horse bought at auction. Videos posted on their website show their intake process with new horses, including veterinary checks and treatment, farrier service, and training. People who have adopted horses from HPH contribute pictures, videos, progress reports, and stories to a Facebook page specifically for owners. It’s gratifying to see the horses in their new homes with their new owners, and to read their success stories.

This rescue is truly one of the best. I was lucky enough to know and volunteer for them a few years back when they were in California and now I rescue horses out here. It's disgusting that there are horse killers like Wilson Mule that bash them. Horse Plus saves them from the clutches of these evil people, of course they are going to complain. The horse below was purchased by Horse Plus from WIlson Mule and was so skinny, frail, and could barely walk. He hated people. Now he's been brought back to health and is living out his days in Oregon, far away from the clutches of "Wilson Horse and Mule" auction. Payton and Tawnee and everyone else at Horse Plus are horse Angels and I support them 100%.

Absolutely do not recommend! If there was a negative red star, I'd give it. Horse Plus Humane Society and Actress Payton Christian, engaged an egregious behavior by slandering the owners of a legally purchased horse. This bitter diatribe was prolonged and continues despite getting notification from the sale barn, where Horse Plus, purchased 53 horses, banning Payton Christian, and giving notice of no trespass. Horse plus Humane Society, collected donations for a particular horse that Miss Christian, decided she fell in love with. Matter of fact, $1,500 was raised for that particular grey dapple. However, she stopped bidding at $700 on that particular horse so legal ownership went to another party after outbidding. Miss Christian because involved in an altercation with the new legal owners. After that, it was posted on social media platforms from both Payton and Horse Plus Humane Society, trash talking the rightful new owners. Please note, this horse did not go to a killer buyer. they engaged in a bidding war over a healthy horse and became upset that the new owner posted such horse on her page(same as Horse Plus) and will be making a profit. For an organization considered to be so involved in keeping horses off the "slaughter pipeline" they sure conducted themselves poorly an unconscionably slandered them and continue to allow their "followers" to continue to fuel the fire. Horse plus Humane Society has no business interfering with a legitimate sale at an auction. Furthermore, they have no business bidding against the general public over healthy horses. Horses of good condition and good weight are not at risk of going to a killer buyer. This unbecoming conduct has become so outrageous, they really should issue a personal apology to both the new legal owner of the horse and the sale barn. If you would like to condone this type of behavior and contribute to their endeavors , no matter how inappropriate, go right ahead. I for one will not be complicit in the actions of an inappropriate badgering/bullying, organization.

In 2014, Horse Plus drove a very large stock trailer with partitions and another large, multi-horse trailer hundreds of miles on the incident I know of (I've been told about their traveling 1000,'s of miles to help out with other wild horse rescues). At the very difficult incident I'm familiar with, Horse Plus assisted another animal rescue/welfare nonprofit. Their expertise in corralling, loading, safely transporting over rough terrain, and carefully unloading extremely wild and unpredictable horses at the destination was both professional and compassionate. There were concerns for the safety of both the volunteers and the horses, but Horse Plus folks knew what they were doing. When I say "wild," I mean that in the fullest sense of the word. They volunteered their services and transported all the horses to safety. Horse Plus's integrity, expertise, and willingness to offer their services raised the bar for horse rescue groups. We fully support them and their wonderful work.

I was a supporter of Horse plus humane for quite awhile. I started to notice some inconsistencies with their posts, posting pictures of the same horse , using a different name and begging for money to help pay for care of the horse. They advertise that they offer low cost gelding clinics to offer the service to people who could not otherwise afford it, showed pictures of the horses they helped the owners with gelding, then they post same picture of the horses asking for donations to pay for gelding??? They put down horses that are healthy young and just need time , patience and training, claiming they are dangerous. Most horses in a rescue situation are traumatized and require time and patience, they kill them. They have killed horses to make room for others coming in instead of saying we are full and working on placing the horses they have. The money they collect and their adoption rate does not match, most are put down after surrender fee is paid so where is the money going??? I started asking questions on their facebook page and my questions were ignored by Horse Plus but I did get nasty private messages from people affiliated with them. I finally tried calling them directly on the phone and each time I was told no one was there to answer my questions but promised a return call right away, after trying for two months I gave up with NO RESPONSE from Horse Plus but they did block me from their facebook page so my comments would not be seen by the people who fund this fraudulent so called rescue. I have watched them make personal attacks on peoples character for simply questioning them about where a horse ended up or how much money they raised. They make false claims about who they are and what they do, they recently were forced by I believe animal control to revise their website and remove the false claims. Someone needs to stop these people, they give all rescues a bad name . The truth is very ugly!!!!!!

I was sad that I wasn't able to meet Tawnee, but understand that she is very busy. They answered all of my questions honestly and without using pre-written lines. Steve especially is a very down-to-earth kind of guy and is very nice.

The facility is immaculate, well cared for, and all of the horses had food and water. I would recommend adopting from this shelter to any of my friends!

The comments made in the December 2010 time frame were generated by the County seizing horses from a neighboring "rescue." The hearing is on You Tube with graphic details. NER, now known as Horse Plus Humane Society continues their above reproach work. I have adopted 2 mustang mares from them, and supported numerous projects and emergency rescues. Their facility has been recently moved to Bangor, CA. Horse Plus is dedicated to the welfare of all animals, particularly horses.

Horse plus kills 90% at least, of the horses that people pay to surrender or they have donations to get horses from auctions. They do not know how to train or properly care for horses and kill horses untrained calling them "dangerous". They are nothing but money greedy killers! they do nothing to rehabilitate to help the horse get a proper home. I watched them load up 9 horses crammed in a trailer and left the property for over an hour with the horses standing in the trailer without anyone on the property at all. it is likely they hauled them to the rendering service where they were all put down in the trailer. (which people have witnessed before) they are dangerous people. no horse is safe around them. God help the horses that get stuck in thier hands. Ive never seen such heartless people.

This is an email I received 2 days ago. It broke my heart because these were good people who fell on hard times & were trying to do the best for their horses. I responded to his email because I would have taken Jazzy had he contacted me. She was a nice young mare with a lot of potential. Neither of these mares were dangerous. They were just young, wiggly youngsters who did well with patience & being shown what was expected of them. I worked under them with no problem. Such a tragedy. Just one more tragedy perpetrated by Horse+. " Hello Diana. This is Gary Vincent, you came out to my house in Bangor to trim my horses hooves back in the summer of 2011. You really liked my horse Jazzy. She was a Arab cross and you said that if I ever had to find her a home that you would take her. Recently because of economic hardship I was forced to return Jazzy and Bella to the Horse Plus Humane Society. I thought that I was doing right by them. After multiple e-mails to them going unreturned about Jazzy and Bella, I finally received a response from them about how Jazzy and Bella were doing. They responded with this " We were unable to place them into our adoptions program and decided to give them the Last Act of Kindness. Jazzy was almost impossible to catch, even in a small area with more than one person. Bella was bad on escaping pens and could have seriously injured herself, or even struck by a vehicle. We do apologize but it was for their best interest. "

Would you be willing to write an e-mail statement on the Jazzy's temperament and if you would have been willing to take her could you state that also. My daughter and I are both devastated by this. We never thought that they would euthanize two young adoptable horses. We were not under the impression that this would even be considered and we were never even notified that they had decided to do that. We had many, many people that would have taken those horses but we thought that it would be best to give them back to the rescue. If you could write a statement stating how you felt about Jazzy and how she and Bella behaved when you were trimming their hooves, I would greatly appreciate it. "

Horse Plus Humane Society, formerly NorCal Equine Rescue, is by far and away THE BEST horse welfare organization in the world. They stay true to their mission statement (saving horses from abuse and slaughter) despite so many naysayers. Don't believe those that have a personal vendetta against Horse Plus. They do a great job, their facility is neat and clean, and the horses make amazing recovery while at their shelter. Yes they are open door, yes they euthanise and YES they are completely open about it. If you don't like that, don't donate, but if you are a real person living in a real world that is somewhat devoid of pixies and rainbow bridges with unicorns dancing across them, Horse Plus is the place for you to donate your hard earned money to make the most good.

NorCal aka Horse Plus Humane accepted my STOLEN Saddlebred mare into their so called rescue. She was killed by Dr Death Weaver of Look Ahead Veterinary, Ororville, CA in a few days. They NEVER verify ownership of horses and/or try to locate legal owners of horses they take into their "rescue" They killed my horse!

These people are power mongers! They put horses down so readily that do not need to be! They bully people into turning thier horses into them then turn around a put it down cause its "ugly'. I found out that my horse was distroyed 2 days after I took it to them unknowingly of how they are. I would give anything to have my horse back and alive! he was better off with me than dead. a 6 year old broke trail horse that was not lame did not deserve this! I want to sue them for there cold hearted lying! they are Con Artists and need to be stopped. They sounded so sincere i believed them. They need to be euthanized!

I volunteered there they are horrible to the animals leaving them without food and water and filthy, put animals down because they are too lazy to make any effort to get them adopted out
They also pay themselves a great deal of money while claiming they are in it for the horses.

Actually I have been to this rescue, I went with a friend who adopted a horse there. A dump?? HARDLY. It is clean, safe and the horses are well fed.

No Yes you got it all....who created the suffering??? You really have to ask that??? The rescue???...LOL....HOW ABOUT BLAMING THE UNCARING OWNERS WHO DUMPED THEIR HORSES AND ALLOWED THEM TO END UP THIS WAY???? Kill buyers are only middlemen...cleaning up the messes left by uncaring owners. And I suppose you blame Animal Control for killing cute little puppies and kittens instead of the moron owners who didnt spay and neuter...GEEEEZZZ

Norcal/Horse Plus Humane has NEVER claimed to be no-kill. Geez people, get on their website, click on "policies" at the bottom of the page and learn something. Tawnee has stated on their blog they are a open door turn in shelter, just like the ones for dogs and cats. Unfortunately, there are not homes for every horse and they do euth for space, among other reasons.

If you dont like that, then dont support them. This is America, its your choice. Its real easy to criticize sitting behind a compter when they are the ones out there actually DOING something...even if that means euthing a healthy horse instead of letting it go thru the agony of slaughter.

This organization states on this site that they have a gelding clinic.

It appears they have only had one gelding clinic, but aggressively
get horses at auction that other private owners would buy, and then
this rescue destroys them if no home is found in 60 days.

This rescue asks for funds on their blog and website to rescue horses,
but it is not clear what happens to these horses.

their policy is to put down a horse, healthy or not, if a home is not found in 60 days.
