Several years ago, I nominated my local horse rescue to be featured as the Bucket Fund recipient of the month. Due to the foundation's help, over $1,000 was raised to go towards the care of a group of rescued miniature horses. The rescue was thrilled to receive the funds. I know the foundation does good work, and I am happy to give this nonprofit a 5-star review.

Horse and Man Bucket Fund helped my local horse rescue fundraise money after the rescue took in a group of 12 miniature horses. The group had been surrendered to the rescue by an elderly owner who could no longer care for them. The Bucket Fund donation helped the rescue provide much needed medical care for the horses and prepare them for adoptive homes. Very grateful for the support!
Horse And Man Foundation is a top notch nonprofit. It helps save horses in all kinds of bad situations. It even raises money for other rescues and care givers who need financial assistance to help an animal. My favorite stories are the ones where horses are rescued from a kill lot, especially mustangs.
I I am a huge fan of Dawn's blog, Horse and Man. She writes about all things related to horses, donkeys, etc. There are so many wonderful stories about the bond between horses and their people. Almost each month Dawn presents a horse, donkey in need of medical assistance. Animals that have been abused, starved, victims of tragedies, hurricanes, fires. She then posts all monies raised and updates on the animals. I thank God each day for people like Dawn who are so caring and compassionate. She has done so much for all the animals.There is no more deserving charity than Horse And Man Foundation, Inc. Blessings and love to Dawn and her family.

We have been reading Dawn's Horse and Man blog for approximately seven years, when we retired to Texas. Most months, the Horse and Man Foundation has a Drop in the Bucket Fund for horses in need. The most recent is a horrific case of animal abuse. Dr. Kris Anderson, who we helped during the Houston floods, requested assistance with a hoarding situation of horrific abuse of 49 mini horses. A few of the horses had to be euthanized. All donations, whatever denomination, are put into a bucket fund and presented to the charity at the end of the month and are tax deductible. The best part is that Dawn always provides updates on the charity. We were so pleased to see that about 12 to 15 of those minis are now able to be adopted. God bless Dawn for everything she does for all of these animals in need. Her Foundation is truly deserving of this Great Non-Profit Badge. Yvonne and Maurice Kirby

I love how the bucket fund 1) focuses on one (or, on occasion, two) causes who need help every month, 2) only a small amount is requested, which makes the contribution doable on our budgets, and yet, a lot gets accomplished, 3) we are kept apprised of the progress, and 4) we receive a receipt showing how much was given at the end of the month or beginning of the next one.
All of this is done consistently, and there are even other ways we can help (I use Amazon SMILE and I get to buy beautiful jewelry, but businesses also give portions of their proceeds to HorseandMan causes when you buy products, which is really cool!).
The work Dawn does for so many horses/ponies/donkeys is phenomenal!
Daily informative posts about the Equine World , - health issues , historical , and personal, and raises funds for Equids in need .
This is an awesome non-profit. They have compassion and serve the equine world with passion and integrity.
This is a very effective organization that gives donated money directly to the concerns that need it. i give to it when I can.
When Horse & Man rallied together for a Bucket Fund to help save the ISPMB horses from going to auction & slaughter. All the horses were eventually adopted.
I am proud to be a reader and donate to the Horse and Man Foundation, I have done for several years now. The Bucket Fund is a successful way for people who want to help, but may feel foolish sending $5.00. But it REALLY works! All the little bits add up and H&M is able to provide funds to help Horses/Mini-Horses in distress. Although I feel all the animals in the stories are worth donating to help, one of my favorites was Dr. Lee (Vet) who used her own money, services and time, to take in 40, severely in need horses from the Louisianna floods. These horses had been standing in badly contaminated flood water up to their necks for days, their treatment not only included re-hydrating and feeding, but cleansing their skin and coats for weeks allowing the rotten skin to fall/peel off on the entire bottom half of their bodies! Not pleasant to watch, but must have been horrible for the horses. God knows what would have happened to them had Dr. Lee not stepped in.
Thank you Doctor Lee, and Horse and Man for alerting me to this need and giving me the chance to help such a worthy cause! and for giving the 'follow up' on all Bucket Funds animals. It is so comforting to know the horse(s) have received the necessary care and are doing well.
Although the stories of neglect and abuse can be heartbreaking it restores my faith in humanity knowing the Horse and Man Foundation is there to help.
I grew up with horses and I am so glad I can help even just a little with the animals Horse And Man's Bucket Fund benefits. The Mini horses story really touched me.
Horse and Man Foundation helps the most desperate of cases in the equine world. Dawn finds horses that need so much specialized care due to mistreatment and those found in round up pens. She has fund raisers for veterinary costs and has been able to obtain thousands of dollars for horses who have severe hoof problems, malnutrition due to starvation and some of the worst cases of neglect that I have ever seen. One that stands out in my mind is the horse who had a halter put on when it was a foal and never removed; it's nose grew around the halter and created a DEEP indent on it's face that will be there forever!
I enjoy giving to Horse and Man causes because every single penny goes to the fund of the month. The fund is called a “Bucket Fund”, because like drops in a bucket, every penny counts. Those penny’s can add up to a sizable sum. This charity is very personal, with ongoing updates on the rescues.
The Horse and Man Foundation researches each Bucket Fund story so we contributors know that these equine are truly in need of our help and are in a situation where our help is legitimately needed. The Executive Producer is knowledgeable and compassionate. Many of us have limited funds but when added into the Bucket Fund, it all adds up to real help that benefits a horse or a group of horses or equines that need attention to relieve the pain and hurt. Each Bucket Fund story allows us to know who we are helping and often we get the results of a happier being, now in a caring environment. Whether it is a foal, or formerly wild mustangs or donkeys, or neglected and desperate domestic horses, we get that opportunity to be compassionate and help in meaningful ways.
Horse and Man is a non profit that is a true non profit. All of the monies go directly to the 'bucket list' and we see the differences that are made because of the Bucket List. I have very little income in my retirement but anything I purchase at Amazon supports Horse and Man. It's only a little but they say every little bit helps.
Horse and Man has had their 'bucket list' of animals that get monetary donations for emergencies + other issues. I follow these monthly bucket lists and give when I can. These are truly deserving animals that are picked to help out.
Horse And Man finds and helps some of the neediest equine situations in the USA - things that wouldn't normally come to one's attention, that break your heart and destroy your faith in human nature, and then restore it by bringing together a community of people who care. Dawn's work is never done, but she perseveres each month and never gives up. We need a thousand more non-profits like Horse And Man!
I love Horse and Man! I love what it is doing to raise money for horses in need. I love the daily blogs. I am glad to know that Horse and Man is doing all the hard work that some of us are not able to do.
Horse and Man is a wonderful blog that I enjoy reading every single day. I truly admire the work she does helping abused, abandoned, neglected horses and donkeys. She does her research to ensure the money that is donated is spent on an animal that is truly in need. I also have received a thank you every single time I have donated. That means a lot. I never feel like I'm donating to an anonymous organization.

She always follows up with their care, letting her readers know their status and how they are faring. I've been following her blog/foundation for many years.
I have followed this nonprofit for years because I love horses and care about their welfare, plus I trust the research Dawn does to find reputable horse non-profits that need urgent financial assistance. Horse and Man has done monthly fundraisers for horse rescues after the hurricanes in Florida and Louisiana, after fires in California, for ongoing county and private operations who find terrible hoarding situations, and has helped with wild horse adoptions. I always trust that these are legitimate needs because I know Horse and Man does its due diligence and accountability follow ups.
I love this blog. In retirement on a fixed income, I have had to curtail so many of my donations. One thing I try not to miss every month is the bucket fund. Dawn knows a lot about horses and has rescued many herself. The monthly fund always goes to help such a variety of horses: the abused, the surrendered, the abandoned, the injured, the elderly, young babies without their mothers...the list is endless. We always get a printout of the receipt, and we trust her to choose wisely how to spend our donation money. If I write to her, I always hear back. This is a stellar endeavor and worthy of our highest accolades.
Horse and Man is the single organization I go to every day. I read the posts and see that they usually select one horse/organizationthat month to help. All the dollars go to that horse/organization. Occasionally there is an emergency need in addition. They follow up on that particular month's recipient. We get to see horses being helped. We see the change in the horses and donkey's that are helped. Sometimes we get a report 6 months later. It makes you feel like you have really contributed to a lovely being, not just a vast hole asking for money.
Since finding Horse & Man I regularly donate, sometimes twice in a month.
I have followed this nonprofit for well over two years and am always so impressed by them! The causes are always carefully selected, explained and followed up with.

Horse and Man (Dawn) is to be commended on the untiring effort to assist equines in desperate need. I have been following the blog and contributing to The Bucket Fund for many years. Each month brings a compelling reason to donate to make a life/lives more comfortable. Many, such a Betsy Rose at Beauty’s Haven in Florida and the 49 miniature horses (current Bucket Fund) are truly heartbreaking. Horse And Man Bucket Fund steps up for equids rescued from certain or near death, gets them help, keeps you posted, and then shows proof of the donations going where promised. Been with them for a long time and plan to stay there.
The Horse and Man Foundation raises money EVERY MONTH to help sick, injured and rescued horses. Each month the money goes to help a new animal or rescue group in need. Donors always get updates and I feel the money is always used wisely and for good causes. This nonprofit has helped countless animals. If you love horses this is one of the best!
Dawn makes every entry so engaging, from her open and honest story writing, to the info she posts about everything from the mundane to the obscure (my favorite was about the pit ponies, with second runner up about the diving horses)...but mostly, I appreciate all the work she does to present the stories of those horses (and equine organizations) that are in desperate need of donations. I know how time-consuming it probably is, but I just shake my head every time I think what a great advocate she is and has been for equines whose lives depend/depended on donations from Horse and Man's Bucket Fund. Kudos, Dawn!

Shouting out one or two it is most difficult I would have to say this latest one with the ponies and their curled up hoofs and many that were stallions and pregnant mares touched my heart so......but most of all our Messenger DAWN Is an outstanding teacher to those of us that are novice to horses.
She explains every situation to detail about the Bucket fund for the month, She doesn’t hit you hard with all the drama just the story that unfolds.
She’s honest blunt and sincere .
Most of all transparent, she is a friend.
I found this Horse and Man foundation about 5 years ago by accident I must say.
But now it is the first thing that I turn on in the morning I can’t wait to hear her story for the day or maybe a rescue that needs our help or even a prayer .
I am thankful for her deep devoted love for this majestic animal.
In closing I will say the best part is when she gives us a follow up on how the horse or donkey with any given bucket fund is doing.

Horse and Man alerts me to horses in need. By banding supporters together my small donation goes further in righting a wrong that was done by someone to that most majestic of animals — a horse.
