The Hope and Light Foundation is making awesoem strides in changing the way children with Spinal Muscular Atrophy are taken care of medically. Although SMA is the leading genetic killer of children under 2 years of age, many doctors do not know how to take care of infants diagnosed witht his disease. They tell the parents to take them home and love then that they will die before their 1st birthday and there is nothing the parents can do to change that. The Hope and Light Foundation is putting money into education and research. They have helped to fund educational programs that bring top SMa doctors tot he East Coast to help our medical professionals take care of our children at home. They have also given money to research programs to help promote a cure for SMA. The Hope and Light Foundation is a wonderful cause that is moving mountains to help our children.

Programs: The hope and light foundation supported families living with spinal muscular atrophy by holding our second annual adapted toy program. Adapted toys and switches to operate them were mailed to each child. This technology assisted children by allowing them to play independently. The foundation also partnered with lekotek of georgia to distribute adapted toys to children living in the metro atlanta area.
