Mission: The Honduras Child Alliance is working to make life better for young people in El Porvenir, Honduras. United by the desire to improve the quality of life for children, teens, and adults, we coordinate community programs to support educational enrichment and healthy living. As a blended team from within Honduras and from many countries and backgrounds, we work together to reinforce basic academic skills while enhancing the development of critical thinking and decision-making capabilities. Our programs include teaching English and computers so that our students can pursue education and employment opportunities that would otherwise be unavailable. By fostering positive self-expression, leadership talents and team building, we nourish confidence and self esteem. With support from donors and like-minded organizations, our programs are provided at no cost to the participants.

I just spent two months volunteering at HCA and I could have never imagined how impactful this work would have been! From the get go, most of the team welcomes you when you arrive, as all the volunteers and the volunteer manager live in the same house (and both volunteer houses are very close by). The environment is open to people from everywhere, and the community between volunteers is really strong! I felt very safe living in El Porvenir, which was only a 20 minutes ride away from a big city (La Ceiba) where you can find everything you might need!

The local team from El Porvenir is amazing, welcoming and very talented in what they do! The work at HCA is community-focused and has a long lasting effect on the kids they work with. Many of the local interns (teachers in class) were kids who went to class with HCA, and loved it so much that they decided to start working with them. The school program and the classes are organised and pertinent. This whole experience was really educative and eye-opening on community-centred work! I hope to come back to Honduras and HCA in the future :) I will never forget working with the kids, getting to know the local community and the friends I have been

I just finished four amazing months with HCA in El Porvenir. I can't recommend this organization enough to people looking to gain experience working in a country that isn't known to tourists. The impact the organization is able to have on the community is unbelievable you can never walk down the street without saying hi to at least five people you know. I miss Honduras dearly but know I will be back soon!

Hello! My name is Eleonore, and I was a volunteer in HCA during 3 months at the end of 2023. Now I’m come back in France, but I can’t stop thinking about my experience in Honduras!
To be short I will just talk about one little thing to convince you to support in any ways this organization. HCA is a wonderful example of collaboration between local people and workers from all around the world! The purpose of this organization is to work hand in hand with the community to help children become the adults of tomorrow through many educational and health programs. For me, it was also an opportunity to meet extraordinary people and learn more about myself.
Because HCA is an independent organization, we need you!

I have been volunteering for HCA for 7 months now and I absolutely love it! El Porvenir is such a welcoming and safe community, it has felt like home since the day I arrived. My favorite part about volunteering is the kids – they are so bright and silly and excited to learn! We all work very hard here and some days are long, but this has been such a fulfilling experience that I wouldn’t change a thing. It doesn’t hurt that we live right on the beach, so I can enjoy a daily sunset swim! I have 5 months left, but I can’t imagine leaving this place. If you want to work with kids and you speak (or want to speak) Spanish, I highly recommend volunteering with this organization.

I was a volunteer in HCA during 5 months this year and it was for sure the best experience in my life. First thanks to my wonderful manager and team who where always able to help us and to make this experience that beautiful. And then, to the community and especially to the kids who are so kind and welcoming.
I am so glad to live this and I hope one day come back
I miss you all

I first started volunteering with Honduras Child Alliance about 5 years ago and the experience with this incredible organization has changed my life.

I believe that we should treat each other with kindness and love and that is exactly what HCA volunteers from all over the world are doing. HCA is made up of people from diverse backgrounds and situations, coming together to improve the lives of some amazing children and their families through a variety of programs and projects.

Although many HCA volunteers spend months preparing for their trips to Honduras, it doesn’t have to take much time, money, effort, or energy to give back and create change in the world. If we all just spare a little of our time, creativity, skills, or support, the world will become a much better place.

I have seen HCA in actoon - i have watched and assissted in the building of banos for two families, observed classes in action and spent a lot of time in the community with volunters and residents of El Porvenir. HCA does many great things and is a great benefit to the community and the volunteers alike.
