Mission: Provides hands-on cooking classes and holiday celebrations in homeless and transitional living shelters where children experience the joy of family meals, the nurturing power of creating healthy dishes, and the stability of developing traditions centered around food.
Programs: Weekly cooking workshops: we teach cooking workshops for homeless children living in houston's shelters. We provide the teachers, volunteers, food, cooking equipment, and supplies needed to prepare nutritious family meals, benefitting, 3005 children
holiday celebrations: children living in homeless shelters learn holiday recipes, make crafts and decorations, and invite their families to the holiday celebrations. We hold celebrations for 11 different holidays throughout the year at 6 different shelters. Our holiday celebrations include family meals, decor, and holiday related supplies for the families. These celebrations benefitted 2,810 children and family members.
field trips: children escape the isolation of living in a shelter through field trip to various houston restaurants and landmarks. Each field includes a transportation, a healthy meal, and field trip coordinator/leader, benefitting 1872 children.
