Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Community Coalitions, Homeless & Housing, Homeless Shelters

Mission: The Homeless Alliance mission is to rally our community to end homelessness. The Homeless Alliance works to end long-term homelessness in Oklahoma City by building the capacity of the community through collaboration with other agencies, identifying and filling gaps in homeless services, bringing nationally-recognized best practices to the community, and working to build a system that is more efficient, rational, and caring.

Target demographics: rally the community to end homelessness

Geographic areas served: Oklahoma City

Programs: The Homeless Alliance oversees the WestTown Homeless Resource Campus, consisting of the Day Shelter, Resource Center, and WestTown Apartments. The Day Shelter is Oklahoma City's only low-barrier environment for individuals experiencing homelessness and their pets. Each day, the Day Shelter serves more than 250 guests, providing hot meals, warm showers, access to telephones and computers, case management, and other services. In 2020, the Day Shelter served 5,386 unique guests, provided more than 83,000 meals and 11,000 showers. For many, the Day Shelter is their only access point into the services needed to end their homelessness. The campus offers office space to social service agencies including Veteran Affairs, Healing Hands, Mental Health Association, Oklahoma County Pharmacy, Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency, and others. This collaborative environment allows clients to see a number of social service providers all at once, providing the opportunity for coordinated case management to create a holistic approach to ending an individual's homelessness. Through the Resource Center, the Homeless Alliance oversees housing programs for chronically homeless individuals, veterans, and families, housing 810 people in Oklahoma City in 2020. WestTown Apartments provides on campus, permanent supportive housing for veterans and individuals who are chronically homeless. This 20-unit, single resident occupancy complex has around the clock support, and provides our most vulnerable clients with a safe and supportive living atmosphere only yards from their case managers (at our Resource Center) and meals (at our Day Shelter). Finally, the Homeless Alliance has recently expanded its employment wing adding low-barrier and supportive employment programs including the Curbside Chronicle, Curbside Flowers, and Sasquatch Shaved Ice.
