Mission: To promote and preserve yurok culture, language, and traditions. To restore, protect and preserve the natural resources and ancestral lands located within yurok aboriginal territory. To promote social, ecological and sustainable communities that support the traditions, values and relationships of the yurok tribal community. To work to improve the quality of life of the yurok tribal community. To promote educational, vocational, employment and training opportunities within the yurok tribal community. To foster collaborative relationships and partnerships to meet the objectives of the corporation and better serve the yurok tribal community.
Programs: The hoh-kue-moh corporation was fully staffed by may of 2012 including a self-help civil staff attorney, mediator, contracted mediation educator, criminal staff attorney, legal advocate, and probation/monitor. Major accomplishments during the year include:preparation of legal briefs in a successful defense for over $2,000 of back rent and unpaid utility claims in an unlawful detainer case in del norte superior court and yurok tribal court. Provided on-site training and assistance for social security applications, will preparation, health care directives and veteran legal services. Created yurok tribal court forms for custody, marriage/dissolution, guardianship, and harassment.
