Mission: To advance the economic, social and cultural prosperity of hmong american farmers in minnesota through economic development, capacity building, and advocacy and research.
Programs: The alternative markets program trains and supports immigrant farmers to market, aggregate and deliver fresh fruits and vegetables to institutional buyers such as schools, hospitals and corporations. Over 25 immigrant farmers participated in the trainings and over three new market contacts were secured. The research and training program specifically works to build the capacity of immigrant farmers. This program hosted over 25 workshops from topics such as soil fertility and food safety. It also conducted a longitudinal reasearch study on immigrant farmers. Over 200 participants engaged in this program. The land access now program works with farmers to advocate for and help them find affordable farmland near the twin cities to grow fresh produce. This program also trains farmers on land stewardship and sustainable agricultural practices. Over 30 farmers ahave participated in these services.
