Mission: The Coalition for Hispanic Ministries (CHM) was formed in 1994 with a concern for the growing Hispanic population in the United States. Research indicated that a key need in the American Hispanic church is for trained leadership. It was important in addressing this need to design a program that is accessible educationally, financially, and geographically with the flexibility to fit into the schedule of a busy bilingual pastor. Our leadership training institute, the "Instituto ALMA: ALcanzando al Mundo Alrededor" uses videos and study guides to lead a group of church leaders in a classroom experience focused on group interaction. We cover themes from Administration to Anthropology from video tapes that were recorded by some of the top Hispanic leaders and educators in the United States and in Mexico. We are also currently working in partnership with the Houston Graduate School of theology to provide accredited seminary level training in Spanish.
