Mission: To improve the quality of life in the hilltowns by addressing the economic, housing, educational, social, and community needs while preserving the rural character of the area.
Programs: Continuum of care- hcdc is the colloborative applicant for franklin, hampshire, and berkshire counties of western massachusetts for the continuum of care homelessness program operated through the department of housing and urban development. The program provides transitional and permanent housing to the homeless and provides supportive services.
community development- hcdc runs and oversees various community and economic development programs in various communities in western massachusetts. Activities include community planning, business assistance, social services, rehabilitation of housing stock. Keep farming in the hilltowns and an initaitve studying rural transportation across hilltowns. The agency also administers regional community development block grant services annually
rental properties- hcdc owns and manages 43 affordable rental units in scattered sites throughout rural hampshire county, 15 of which are for seniors. Hilltown cdc actively pursues opportunities to create or renovate affordable rental housing units for all low to moderate income area residents.
housing development - hilltown cdc strives to increase the number of affordable rental and owner occupied housing units in the hilltowns. It does this through seeking grants to fund purchase and renovation projects.
