Hillel student leaders, professional & lay leaders are dedicated to creating a pluralistic, welcoming & inclusive environment for jewish college students, where they are encouraged to grow intellectually, spiritually & socially. Hillel helps students find a balance in being distinctively jewish & universally human by encouraging them to pursue tzedek (social justice), tikkun olam (repairing the world) & jewish learning & to support israel & global jewish peoplehood. Hillel is committed to excellence, accountability & results.
Programs: Hillel's jewish chaplaincy service to students. This includes providing multiple religious services for jewish students, representing the jewish community to the university interfaith center, providing religious guidance & counselling, offering classes in judaism, offering community service opportunities, offering trips to israel, supervising the production of kosher food on campus, providing programming & meals for students to celebrate the sabbath & all jewish holidays, providing an eruv enclosure around the entire campus & local community
jewish student empowerment & leadership development. This includes creating & empowering multiple jewish student groups on campus for the purpose of pursuing specific interests such as womens programs, israel related programming, advocacy for traditional jewish lifestyle choices, jewish cultural events, judaism & medicine & jewish graduate student programming.
engagement of jewish students. This includes staffing & programming creative engagement experiences for jewish students who do not participate in more mainstream programming. It includes opportunities for students to create programs in their residence halls or for specific interest groups such as fraternities & sororities, or just to have access to staff or students to talk about issues of jewish identity on an informal basis.
