Mission: The purpose of the agency is to promote the reduction of poverty, the revitalization of low-income communities and the empowerment of families and individuals in the service area to achieve economic self-sufficiency and maintain personal independence.
Programs: Child care and development - a comprehensive child development program for low-income families designed to meet the needs of children age 3 to 5. Components emphasized are education health and social services. 611 children were served during current fiscal year.
emergency assistance - assist eligible households in danger of having their utilities turned off or are experiencing other energy-related emergencies. 2,391 households, 5,003 individuals, were served with $1,537,946 paid on utility bills.
nutrition and aging - provide congregate meals for clients age 60 and older and home delivered meals for eligible participants. Other services include outreach, counseling, information and referral, art and crafts, and other special emphasis services and activities.
