Programs: Grants to initiate production of native plant seed stocks for conservation and restoration efforts. With the natural resources conservation service and the bureau of land management, hdrc&d contracted with local agricultural producers to convert some crop land to grow native seed for reseeding damaged wildlands and wetlands along the virgin river. Seeds will be used for range and habitat restoration after fires and removal of noxious weeds. Hdrc&d is developing contracts to grow native seed with other producers and tribes in northern arizona. This project encourages a new crop industry and may create new jobs as well.
