Hiawatha's historically underserved populations (english language learners and free and reduced price lunch students) outperformed their peers in the entire state of minnesota in all grade levels and all subjects. Though from traditionally underserved demographic groups, 60-70% of hiawatha scholars consistently score proficient or advanced in math compared to roughly 50% of all students in the local district and 20% of students in similar high frl schools. In reading, roughly 45% of hiawatha scholars are proficient or advanced compared to 40% of district students and only 15% of students in similar high frl schools.
