As an avid music fan, I was shocked to learn about the systemic gender bias in the industry (not to mention the sexual harassment and ageism). Founding Herizon Music Foundation was my way to give back to the women who create the music that has uplifted me through the good times and bad. Collaborating with them and sister nonprofits has been the most rewarding experience of my life. HMF’s values say it all:

During the pandemic, I almost gave up and closed our doors as the live music scene went dark. But our board of directors rallied and refused to let our mission fade. Thanks to their faith and passion for our mission, we shifted our business plans, developed the first all-female musician/DJ marketplace, and hired a new executive director to take us to the next level. Our donors stepped up and said “let’s do this” and kept us going.
My heart sings just thinking how everyone came together.

Herizon Music Foundation is paving a path of empowerment for female musicians looking to overcome the challenges of a male-favored industry. They offer a booking platform, help artists develop industry partnerships, provide educational programs and more to help develop female artists of merit in this new music economy. Their work is actively amplifying the voices of women in music, which I feel is a necessary part of the healing of our world. They are also an incredible team of passionate people who live their values!

Founded by a lover of music, Thea Wood, her team launched an amazing podcast to highlight women in music, has attended countless events to provide visibility, shared funds for young women to attend music/sound camps, and posted expert advice/ training on the business of music. Their newest project, Random Acts of Music, is a platform connecting women musicians to event opportunities. As a musician myself, giving time and money to HMF is fulfilling.
I'm a woman in music! Herizon Music Foundation has offered free webinars and podcasts to help ladies like me level the playing field and be successful with our talent. That is why they also get my donations! You can feel the passion behind their message - they love music. They empower women. And they are sincere about helping people nurture their talent.
The awareness that Herizon Music Foundation brings to the fore front of women/females in the music industry is long overdue. The educational, philanthropic, backdrop stories, and live events and podcasts that Herizon Music delivers is commendable. Listening to the music and stories of young girls, fledgling artists, and those who have made their way is truly inspiring and healing. Herizon Music Foundation allows women to be heard, be uplifted, and supported.

Thea Wood, the founder, and CEO of Herizon Music Foundation is an amazing woman who has dedicated her life to uplifting the next generation of women in music by providing education, role modeling and paid experience through a platform called Random Acts of Music. In 2021 over 20 women were able to attend music camp and training through Herizon Music's great work. This organization is going places and helping hundreds of women through its mission.
