I met Cindy and her dream team while going through cancer treatment. Not only was I able to shed my stress with these two I found new positive ways to release my stress. I’m now living my dream and supporting this herd with my time and talents. I wish I had lots to give but my prayers, volunteerism will have to suffice for now. This is where I hand the baton to others in hopes they will recognize and support Cindy and her Dream Team so they can reach others like me.
My husband and I first became involved with HeartSoul Horses Helping Humans founders Bruce and Cindy Hartzell through mutual friends. During the summer of 2017, we were introduced to Handsome Harry, an approximately 2 year old wild mustang at the time of our first meeting. Harry, who was found as a foal, separated from his band 2 years earlier covered in lice, was semi-conscious, and was thought to have a slim chance for survival. After extensive medical care including a thorough delousing, and completing his rehabilitative care provided through LRTC’s Lucky Horse Program, Handsome Harry went to live with the Hartzell’s and their family of horses, where he began his training and behavioral shaping to “be a horse.” At the time of our first meeting with Handsome Harry, he was active, playful, and charmed his visitors. He clearly was responding well to his training, gentling, and interactions with the other horses.
We were so impressed by the compassion, skill, love and commitment of Bruce and Cindy to all of their horses and Handsome Harry in particular, that we wanted to know how we could help Harry and the preservation of the wild mustang population in general. We chose to sponsor Harry as a Wild Horse Ambassador so that he can do what he does best and charm those who see him and demonstrate what a wonderful gift we have in our wild mustang population throughout the country. It is our hope to be able to educate others, through Harry’s wonderful efforts, of what value our wild range mustangs have and continue to provide as part of our country’s history and our future. We highly recommend supporting HeartSoul Horses Helping Humans in their mission to preserve and sustain their presence, now and for future generations to come.
Cindy and her husband have dedicated their lives to helping horses, other animals, and by extension, people. Her ability to communicate with animals of all types is a skill few possess. With all of the animal abuse in the world around us, it is indeed reassuring to find people such as Cindy, who grasp just how important it is that humans treat animals with respect, kindness and love. Cindy's concern for animals she rescues is returned many times over to people by those animals. Teaching that skill to the young and even adults who may not have had much interaction or connection with animals offers a constructive path forward for improving conditions under which animals and wildlife live on our planet. Without animals, people's lives would be very barren indeed.
I met Cindy a few years ago. I was going thru a difficult transition in my life. I had moved to a new community and had left my home town, friends, family, and a Community that I had been deeply involved in. I became lost. Cindy is a inspiration of heart, soul, confidence. Her gentle touch helped me find the wisdom and strength that I thought I had lost. I continue to grow every day! Her gentle touch helps us all find the voice within. The amazing connection with animals, especially the "Mustangs" a symbol of freedom, spirit, and the traveler. Her connection other animals viewing them as sentient beings brings it always closer to my heart! I too have always had that connection in my life. Cindy's work is powerful! She is a gift to all of us! Please support her, her work, the mustangs, our hearts, our spirits!
