Programs: Heartland film festival - heartland film brings the world to indianapolis each october during the 10-day heartland film festival. In 2014, 1,624 films were submitted from 85 different countries. Of these films submitted, 134 films were programmed with 23,000 in attendance.
heartland roadshow - year-round community screenings allow the organization to share heartland film films with audiences throughout the year. We partner with nonprofits, community organizations, businesses and schools to bring inspiring films to the community. In 2014, road shows were held at various locations including franklin (indiana), bedford (indiana), and various locations in the indianapolis area. During the year, 62 screenings were programmed as part of the road shows, with 7,100 people in attendance.
truly moving picture award - throughout the year, heartland film honors select theatrically-released films with the truly moving picture award. Our award seal is a signal to audiences across the country that a particular film has the power to do more than just entertain- it has the power to make a positive impact on its audience. In 2014, over 40 films were submitted to receive the tmp award and 22 films were actually granted the award seal.
the heartland institute - the main program of the heartland institute is the high school film competition, which provides tomorrow's filmmakers the opportunity to submit short films as part of the heartland film festival. In 2014, 103 films were submitted (45% increase over prior year).
