Mission: Heartland Circle is a grassroots organization created to address the complete lack of services of any kind for women and families in rural areas when they experience chemical dependency problems.Rural women are isolated by geography and social custom. They most often have no access to financial resources for treatment services. They are fearful of attracting attention to themselves or their families. The additional problems caused by chemical dependency make it very difficult to engage rural women in recovery activities.Aware of these issues, Heartland Circle offers workshops and education events related to parenting, grief, debt, discipline, caring for an aging or ill relative, grandparents raising grandchildren and a variety of craft projects. These events attract women to Heartland Circle where they find comfortable surroundings and caring people. Then, when they have chemical dependency problems, they know a safe, confidential place where they can turn for help. This "through the side door" approach has been every successful and others in our area are using this method. We do not charge for any services because cost must never be a barrier for someone seeking help. The Heartland Circle mission is:?To implement the Heartland Circle recovery model that is based on the unique needs of rural women and their families in Lorain, Medina, Ashland and Huron counties so that they may empower themselves and each other to prevent and recover from all forms of substance abuse and chemical dependency.?
